A Choice of Catastrophes is by Steve Mollmann and Michael Schuster.

    From the book jacket

The USS Enterprise, under the command of Lieutenant Hikaru Sulu, is returning from a mission to deliver medical supplies to Deep Space Station C-15, one of Starfleet's most distant installations. All is routine until the Enterprise comes within a light-year of the planet Mu Arigulon, when the ship is suddenly thrown from warp and suffers a momentary power cut, having run aground on a spatial distortion not revealed in previous scans of the system. When the pride of Starfleet hits another, much worse distortion, Dr. Leonard McCoy has his hands full caring for officers who have suddenly fallen into comas for no apparent reason. The Enterprise medical team soon discovers that the dying officers are espers – humans with a rare and abnormal level of telepathic and psychic ability. With no choice but to link to the officers' minds in order to come to their aid, McCoy is plunged into a nightmarish dream-world... with the end result being nothing short of the possible destruction of the Enterprise and all aboard her...

*shrug* I did a search using the title of the book and specified it for the trek lit forum. So what's wrong with the search engine that it turned up no results?

I just did a search searching for a choice of catastrophes and it turned up on the second page of the results:shrug::

ETA: BTW my first post wasn't meant to criticize you, I just wanted to point you to previous discussions about the book and a good way to find review threads.

Weird. Maybe one of the other choices I made scotched things. And no worries, my *shrug* was more out of annoyance at not finding it in the results. Kind of a "what can ya do sometimes computers just suck." moment. Anyway if one of the Mod squad will go ahead and delete this when they get a chance I would appreciate it.

I'll throw this one into the blacklist of my little app if no one minds, then it won't show both.

Yeah, that's fine. I'm hoping a mod will come along soon and delete the bugger before some noob comes along and posts in it.

*L* No. I didn't even think of it. *shakes head* Until you mentioned it I forget it even existed since, well... I can't remember ever seeing anything so egregious that it required mod attention, and I usually think of the button in that context rather than alerting them to my own stupidity. Thanks for the suggestion.

And, as if by magic, a moderator appears.

Won't delete but will close the thread.
