The Next Big Hollywood Remake

marksound

Hollywood loves to recycle. Paper, plastic, vegetable trimmings, TV, movies, whatever. If it's lying around taking up space, Hollywood will recycle it.

What will be the next big movie remake?

I'm thinking ...

Tango & Cash, starring Vin Diesel and Ashton Kutcher.

Columbo, starring Harrison Ford

Remington Steele, with Jude Law and Kate Bosworth

Beverly Hills Cop, starring Tracy Morgan

The sky's the limit.

Next?

Columbo, starring Harrison Ford

Nah... He's not genial enough. I could see Jeff Bridges doing it though

Also, resurrect Dirty Harry with Josh Brolin
Jeff Bridges? Maybe. Yeah, ok. But he'd have to shave that beard he's become so fond of lately. w

Dirty Harry? I don't know. I'm just glad no one suggested Matt Damon.

Go back a little further now. Who would you cast in something like Duck Soup, or It's a Wonderful Life?

Nobody can touch the Marx Brothers,

Tom Hanks is this generation's Jimmy Stewart, but this generation has no interest in remaking It's a Wonderful Life, unless it's a tv movie, in which case, someone like Matthew Broderick

I just don't understand how Shia Laboeuf has credibility as an action star. I'd be more inclined to see someone like Ryan Reynolds reboot Die Hard

As movies:
  • Friends
  • Xena: Warrior Princess
  • CHiPs
  • Hunter
  • T.J. Hooker
  • The Pretender
As TV shows:
  • Dynasty
  • I Dream of Jeanie
  • Matlock
  • Spenser: For Hire
  • The Six (B)illion Dollar Man
  • Honey West

Jeff Bridges as Columbo with the right script would actually be pretty awesome.

Also, resurrect Dirty Harry with Josh Brolin

This, not so much.

Personally, I think Harry is too tied to Eastwood to ever successfully remake the character. But if they did, Hugh Jackman. He kind of looks like he could be Eastwood's son.

Hey--perhaps as Dirty Harry's son...? ;) I'm serious--the remake of Shaft had Samuel L. Jackson play the nephew (or something) of Richard Roundtree's original John Shaft. I'd call that precedent....

Anyway--I'd be keen on:

Barnaby Jones--with James Caan, and perhaps Nicole de Boer? (I know--for some reason, since The Dead Zone she's been persona incognita, but still...all the more reason to get her "out there". And she kinda has the Lee Meriwether "look"....)

Hart to Hart--with Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone, and...well, I've been thinking James Caan for Max--but if they won't do Barnaby Jones. If they do, well...anyone's guess.

Mike Hammer--with Josh Brolin (easy!) and...let's see, for Velda, we need a brunette who's "voluptuous" and a complete bombshell, yet can clearly play tough-as-nails-when-she's-gotta-be. In two words: Angelina Jolie--unless someone's got a better idea....

I'll think up more, I'm sure....

In the spirit of the OP, I foresee Johnny Depp as Casablanca-based bar proprietor Rick Blaine, of course. :p
