Skyfall is among the very best of the Bond films, so I'm excited to hear this.
Also speaking as a hardcore Bond fan, I disagree.
I like those two a lot as well, but, I would say, of Craig era, Skyfall is the least successful--Yeah, Quantum of Solace suffers from being boring, but it's not downright stupid and a mix of Bronson movies.... Casino Royale is his best.
I would put Skyfall in with The World is Not Enough (which it steals a plot point from) and Tomorrow Never Dies.
Really most Bond films are a bit stupid in places (even Casino Royale), and frankly they'd have got away with it more in Skyfall if Silva's escape had been less "His evil plan all along" and merely a well orchestrated Plan B or C...of course we only have Q's word for it that he did plan it all along, so I think there's wiggle room.

Casino Royale is fantastic, a brilliant assured return for Bond, eschewing the jokeyness (which had always been there, but had become ramped up to absurd levels in the Brosnan movies) in favour of gripping tension, and suave espionage. Loved it.
Quantum of Solace was just a big dumb action movie. OK for what it was, but could have been any old hollywood shite where everything explodes.
Skyfall was good, but it was more of a siege movie than a spy movie. There wasn't much Bondy stuff going on. I think it was a great film though.
I hope for something more akin to classic bond, like Casino Royale for the next one.

plus I loved that for once rather than the finale playing out in the villain's secret HQ, it actually played out in 007's secret HQ

As a lifelong Bond fan, I wish I could be excited by this, but after Skyfall I've been forced to admit that Daniel Craig is never going to be my James Bond. Why the ultimate male wish-fulfillment character has been turned into this sullen, joyless, eternally-burdened fellow, who seems always to be having a miserable time of it, is a mystery to me. Even the sex scenes have become grudging and perfunctory, as if showing Bond taking any pleasure in life at all is now verboten.
Mind you, I'm not advocating Roger Mooresque campfests, but rather the tone that the likes of Connery and Dalton struck: a man of violence and ruthless skill, yes, but also a man whose enjoyment of the world and its finer things was palpable. Dalton, in particular, showed it's possible to play Bond with an actorly seriousness without turning him into Craig's stone-faced latter-day Job. A certain undercurrent of angst is welcome ("If [M] fires me I'll thank him for it"), but shouldn't overwhelm the character in pursuit of the tiresome "dark and gritty" pretensions so beloved of current franchise movies (and which the splendid Star Trek into Darkness blessedly eschewed).

Glad to hear it. Other than one or two minor things I adored Skyfall. It was a little bit more of an M film than a Bond film but that's fine with me considering M was played by Judi Dench. Casino Royale is still my favorite Bond movie (and I don't think it'll be displaced even if a better Bond film arrives) but Skyfall is probably a close second.
Despite some plot holes and unrealistic events (as far as one can speak about realism in Bond movies) Skyfall was one awesome Bond movie.. in the same league as Casino Royale and i have a hard time deciding which one is better.
These news excite me.. i loved how they tied in Skyfall into the greater Bond universe by reintroducing familiar elements like Moneypenny, Q or the Walther PPK but giving them their own spin.
I'm also curious how they will go on from Skyfall and how many Bond movies Craig has left.. as iconic as Connery was and as fitting as Brosnan was (to bad his Bond movies were utter crap scriptwise) i like Craig best as Bond because he brings a whole different energy to the game.
