Godzilla 2014: Rumors, Pix and filming

Oh my god, yes! Giacchino is my second favorite movie/tv composer after John Williams.

Should've known. There are always some idiots on IMDb who don't seem to know the difference between "What I wish would happen" and "What's actually happening." (I still remember how, before Star Trek Nemesis came out, the IMDb cast list included essentially every still-living Romulan character from TNG, DS9, and VGR, not one of whom actually appeared in the film.)

I'd assume such toys are mainly of the kaiju themselves, and maybe of the various mecha used to battle them. But are there any action figures of the human characters? Could one obtain a figure of Professor Yamane or Miki Saegusa? Or a G-Force headquarters playset with a Mechagodzilla hangar?

Yeah, it is the Kaiju themselves.I have seen a couple of Don Frye action figures dressed up as he was in Final Wars.

I'm not sure if that'd work with how they're making the first film. With two new, and potentially, genetic engineered creatures for Godzilla to fight this time round, which fits in with them wanting to stick to the dangers of human tampering with nature theme, I'm not sure how you'd shoehorn in the character of King Kong and his Skull Island background.

But then I'm totally fine with Godzilla fighting all new monsters, so the nostalgia of the old is probably more lost on me than most.

Legendary Pictures has parted company with Warner Brothers and is not teaming up with Universal Pictures.

I think you mean "is now teaming up."

Universal owns the rights to King Kong and many fans, like myself, would like to see Godzilla vs King Kong as the sequal to the 2014 film.

I dunno, I never cared for the idea of taking King Kong, who's only supposed to be 30-40 feet tall, and blowing him up to Godzilla size. It feels like cheating.

I'm more interested by the fact that Legendary is behind both Pacific Rim and Godzilla. How about seeing the Jaegers take on the king of all kaiju?

Yes, I did mean now. :) Toho has wanted to make a remake of King Kong vs Godzilla for years but the rights to the character was too high. The 1991 movie, Godzilla vs King Ghidorah was supposed to feature King Kong but Toho couldn't get the rights.

I would like to see that movie made and I wonder if Toho will have any say in the matter and push for that movie to be made?

If Pacific Rim is a financial success then I would guess Mechagodzilla being in the sequel would also be a possibility.

In anticipation of Pacific Rim I tried watching Godzilla: Final Wars last night. Holy crap, that was just...um.... one of the batshit craziest things ever. Not really sure what the hell that was trying to be, but... it definitely didn't work.

I didn't like it at first but after a few viewings I really have come to enjoy and have a lot of fun watching Final Wars.

For me the best part of GFW was the all to brief trouncing of GINO by Godzilla. It's too bad some of the other kaiju battles weren't longer, especially against some of Godzilla's tougher enemies like Hedorah.

I remember enjoying it as a crazy OTT kind of thing when I watched it back when it first came out. They have it and a whole bunch of the Heisei and Millenium movies for free streaming on Crackle, so I've been thinking about watching them in the near future.

Yeah I admit that was pretty cool. And it was a nice touch that he was kept as a CG effect as well (even though it meant his showdown with Godzilla ended up being very brief).
