A year after I started this three-way competition between the film franchises, Star Trek Into Darkness has been released and out for a month now.

I've usually done Part 1 vs. Part 1 vs. Part 1 and 2 vs. 2. vs. 2 and so on. This time I'm not doing that. There are only two post-reboot Star Trek films while Batman and James Bond have three.

In a competition between Reboot Part 2's I'm pretty sure The Dark Knight would win again. To make things more interesting, I'll keep Master and Commander as a stand-in for Star Trek in the Reboot Part 2 round that also included Quantum of Solace and The Dark Knight.

The Dark Knight Rises vs. Skyfall vs. Star Trek Into Darkness would be more interesting anyway. They were all released in in 2012-'13, it's less obvious which franchise would win the round, and I'm not waiting until 2016 to start up a Reboot Part 3 round where they're all the third part.

Because I don't feel like providing links, here were the winners of the previous rounds:

    Round 1
    Batman vs. Goldeneye vs. Generations
    Winner: Goldeneye

    Round 2
Batman Returns vs. Tomorrow Never Dies vs. First Contact
    Winner: First Contact

    Round 3
Batman Forever vs. The World Is Not Enough vs. Insurrection
Winner: The World Is Not Enough

    Round 4
Batman & Robin vs. Die Another Day vs. Nemesis
    Winner: Nemesis

    Round 5
Batman Begins vs. Casino Royale vs. Star Trek
    Winner: Batman Begins

    Round 6
The Dark Knight vs. Quantum of Solace vs. Master and Commander
    Winner: The Dark Knight

    Round 7
Winners of Rounds 1-6 versus each other.
    Winner: The Dark Knight

Skyfall, it isn't perfect but it's more perfect than the other two.

Dark Knight Rises is just so bloated and however long it is there's still too much story there for one film.

Into Darkness is enjoyable, but I found the homages just too jarring, why reboot a series, make a great and very different first film, then just retread old ground (that was frankly trodden on better first time around)

    007 all the way...

I just plain don't like the Nolan Batman films.

I liked Skyfall, but I'm a die-hard Trekkie so I go with Into Darkness because it tickled my TOS bone.

I voted Rises, for all its flaws. I'd probably put Skyfall next and Into Darkness 3rd, even though I'm more of a Trek fan than a Bond fan.

Skyfall. DKR wasn't that great and You couldn't get me to watch Into Darkness with a gun to my head.

I dunno, you put a gun to my head I'd probably even sit through Sucker Punch again...but only once.

It would have to be a big gun, and you'd have to show me the gun was really loaded. I'm not sure any amout of hallucinogenic substances known to man could make Sucker Punch make sense. :p

If someone put a gun to my head, I'd watch anything they say. I'd be too distracted by whether or not I was going to live to care about what was on the screen.

I'd do an MST3K type of thing to mock the film. If the person with the gun starts finding my jokes funny and lets their guard down for an even instant...

... then I make my move. I've got it planned out.

This is tough since I really liked all three. I'd give TDKR slight nod over STiD with Skyfall a third place.

As flawed as TDKR was, I enjoyed it very much. STID was entertaining, but it didn't feel quite right. And I hate Skyfall!

Ugh, this is like choosing which disease you'd rather die from. They were all so horrible, but Skyfall was the one that bothered me the least. And it did have a few good moments, which is more than can be said for the others.

And so I claim this round for Skyfall. It's nice to have a winner from the reboot era that's not Batman.

    Skyfall.

I'm not a big Batman fan, so I haven't seen The Dark Knight, or TDKR. I've seen Batman Begins though.

I'm a big Bond and Star Trek fan, though. Out of the two, I am going to go Skyfall. But STID was very enjoyable too
