linky The BBC has announced a giant box set of ten stories - all of the Doctor's Regeneration stories - coming in just a few months. It includes an early version of The Tenth Planet (it will be released on its own later this year, but you can get it earlier in this box set) with a combination of animation and surviving clips of the last episode. It does include Time and the Rani as the Sixth Doctor's regen story (ugh). It also includes a coffee table style book with photos, stories, and details about each of the regenerations. The set will released June 24th in the UK (not sure about US release yet), and it run about 45 pounds.
I had no interest in this but it does look bloody good - maybe I'll drop a few hints as a potential birthday present.
Oh maaaaaaaaan....I already have three of these stories and yet I still want this set. Such a pretty-looking book. And it's a fantastic deal if you don't have many of these, yet. Sucks that Colin gets the short end of the stick, but there wasn't much choice here unless you wanted to include The Twin Dilemma, and that would probably do more harm than good. If Big Finish had a regeneration story, that would have made a good extra disc. I'm wondering how they're going to get all of these stories onto six DVDs without major compression artifacts. Best guess, which leaves artifacts on some discs: 1 - The Tenth Planet/The War Games 1-2 2 - The War Games 3-10 3 - Planet of the Spiders 4 - Logopolis/The Caves of Androzani 5 - Time and the Rani/TV Movie 6 - Bad Wolf/The Parting of the ways/The End of Time
That's a cool collection but...it will be rendered obsolete as soon as The Eleventh Doctor regenerates and they reissue the collection to include the story.
^ Oh, I understand, and a crying shame too. I was just thinking that a "regeneration story" is really about the before and after.
Look at that, my memory of that picture was him in 10's suit post regeneration. Looking again it's clearly not. Must stop getting older.
Don't be harsh, everyone needs some verrsion of "coffee" to get going in the morning. I used to drink Cola, but, have switched to Orange Juice
It's one of the series 6 promo images with added regeneration energy. I don't think they're trying to tell us anything. Though there are rumors on Gallifrey Base that the 12th Doctor is either in the process of being cast or has already been cast. It's Gallifrey Base, though. So who really knows?
I already have War Games (2's last), Spearhead in Space (3's first), Robot (4's first) Logopolis (4's last (along with Keeper of Traken & Castravalva)), Castravalva (5's first), The Twin Dielema (6' first), the TV movie (7's last & 8's first), and all of the new series ones, so buying this set wouldn't be worth it for me. Would eb great for people tryign to get into the clasics though. All I really Needs is Tenth Planet, Planet of Spiders, Caves of Androzani, and Time and the Rani. A shame Colin's not had a regeneration episode. If only he accepted the offer to film a last episode or at least a last scene.
