How come NOG didn't wreck the timeline in LGM?

Or perhaps Odo just carried a real Bajoran combadge with him at all times. It'd make sense, wouldn't it?

Until you watch an episode where that combadge along with the rest of him shapeshifts into whatever he's turning into.

I think Odo was destroying materials recovered by those GI men before he met up with the others.

If Odo has to shapeshift into something else, like a German shepherd as he does in LGM, he probably just covers up the combadge within his own 'body'. I highly doubt that Odo can actually mimic a working combadge.

Possible, but we've seen him revert to his natural state any number of times. In his bucket, linking with other Founders, in Lwaxana's lap and so forth... no comm badge. Heck when Garak was torturing him the comm badge disappears completely when Odo lost his shapeshifting ability only to reappear when he gets it back. And no, it was there before they started.

Heck this also brings up the whole universal translator thing too. It's suggested in DS9 they're chips installed in your brain. So how's that work for Odo and the Female changeling? :p

Only for Ferengi. Most officers, such as Starfleet, have the UTs in their communicators.

They can probably speak all languages natively.

Odo I could see learning a number of languages professionally. But the female founder? Why would she reduce herself to learning the petty solids languages? That's what grunts like Weyoun are for.

Odo hiding his commbadge is no mystery. After all, Odo is regularly capable of hiding something like 90% of himself from this universe! When he's a tiny little mouse, all the rest of him must go to some strange place where even a tricorder can't find it. So, if he carries a commbadge, there shouldn't be anything to prevent that from being taken to the same place...

For all we know, Odo really doesn't exist in this universe at all - he merely extends some inert part of his body to our realm, a part that can perfectly take the form of a rock (and therefore cease to be a creature capable of thought, let alone shapeshifting), while the "real" Odo, the thinking part that can project these weird forms in our realm, remains in subspace or whatever.

Certainly Odo isn't a lump of really malleable goo, despite appearances. Such a lump could never become a mouse or a shattered drinking glass or a mist or a wall of flame.

The interesting question here is, how much stuff can Odo take to otherspace with him? Could he extract a hero character from a tight spot by wrapping him up in this otherness like he wraps his own extra mass or, say, the commbadge?

I think I read somewhere that all changelings had the ability to shift mass into subspace or some other dimension. It's similar to how cartoons have access to pockets in the fabric of 2D, allowing them to store hammers and trick gadgets so they may reach to their back and pull them out whenever they need to beat their enemy. Maybe Odo had a combadge all along, it's just compartmentalized into subspace.

Interesting theory. it's quite possible that shapeshifters are not really 3 dimensional creatures. it's possible WE are not three dimensional creatures either, it's just that we never evolved sensory organs to perceive it while changelings depend on it to manipulate their molecular structure.
That way their underlying particles still stay entangled even when they change into gaseous forms or energy.

Wasn't Laas even able to travel at warp speed under his own power?

It just occurred to me-- Odo stowed away on board to keep an eye on Quark. Which means he probably followed Quark during the visit to "waste extraction". No privacy when Odo's around.

Odo wanted to bust up Rom's union for no other reason than public gatherings are disorderly. He wanted to arrest a group of pagh wraith followers who were peacefully chanting just because their presence annoyed his girlfriend. He speaks of the totalitarian occupation of Bajor as the good old days when things were safe and he wasn't bound by Federation rules. We see him monitoring Quark's private conversations and he claims he does so "routinely." Heck, he's thrown Quark into holding cells without evidence before and I've never seen him offer anyone legal counsel.

I like Odo, but he does have a huge fascist streak in him. :p
