I loved Trek ever since I can remember, which now will be some 25 years (I'm 33). Watched pretty much everything so far (just some few eps of TOS left) and never had trouble embracing this new Star Trek. After seeing the opening Kelvin sequence of the '09 movie I was sold :)

I'm pretty much capable of enjoying old and new, without thinking the classic has been desacred; in fact it's still there, being cared of, remastered with love and care, like a classic car that's there to be admired on shows and exhibition for what it is - a classic. Noone's doing it any harm. The new one is a race car that's meant to be driven on the other hand, and from what I've seen in the '09 movie and already read about the new one it's a hell of a ride :)

OK, if this is the legit story - cool.

    I just have one question:

Does Kirk get revived at the end of the movie by injecting him with Khan's blood?

Just curious. Why are you/we using spoiler code in a thread that's clearly marked that it has spoilers?

You ever heard of the phrase "a belt and suspenders?" ;) Actually, I supose it's so people can be selectively spoiled.

A museum in Los Angeles was supposed to fill in for a famous "Star Trek" location. Can anyone say what that location was?

Wow, that looks like an amazingly simple model - low poly, simple textures - for a "hero" ship in a movie like this. Where does the image come from - is it a section from a much larger image?

It got posted on my Facebook newswall through the official Star Trek profile there. This comment was attached:

The U.S.S. Vengeance. For the full first look download the Star Trek App now: www.StarTrekMovie.com/StarTrekApp/

PS: Whatever those spherical drones are - they heavilly remind me of Xindi. Section 31 would probably not hesitate to use tech outlawed by treaties and such...

What does any of this have to do with Robert April and the Phaedrans?

I don't think it does. I think the point of Countdown to Darkness was the fourth issue reveal that Starfleet Intelligence is rotten.

Well said. I'm 30. And have loved Trek for about 15 years. As a fan of Trek, Doctor Who, and James Bond, I am well used to change! I just roll with the changes, and accept that my franchises will update with the times. I had no problem accepting the new iteration of Trek, just as I had no problem with the revived Who series, and the Craig 007 reboots.

If this is the official synopsis, it sounds awesome. Can't wait

Looks like I have enough now to start a model. :)

It's Section 31, isn't it? Not the same thing.

So C2D has no connection plot-wise, just a vague thematic connection? That's not what I expected after 09's Countdown.

The more I read this summary, if it's legit (as has been attested to by Legion) there really isn't anything in it other than enhancements of the trailers and other things that became public knowledge except for one or two things. Particularly --
Thinking about it, the oddest thing is Spock contacting Spock Prime about Khan. What would lead him to do that? What value would that have? Is this the only time Spock has ever contacted Spock Prime with a "what did you do" problem? Why would he even think Spock Prime ever came into contact with Khan, let alone in a way that would yield any useful information in this case? Wouldn't the ship's library computers be of more use to find out about Khan, or maybe even hack into Section 31's computers (if Spock can't do it, who can?). All Spock Prime can offer is vague confirmation that Khan is a baaaaaad man and defeating him was costly. So? Why even say that? It's useless.

The scene doesn't seem to add anything to the story the way it's described in the summary. It's an odd use of Nimoy, too, given how important it was to him that he had a meaty role in the last movie. By comparison, this seems like a "wave to the folks" part for Nimoy.

Oh well, if it's there, it's there.

    I'm wondering...

how Section 31 could have possibly convinced Khan to work for them. Khan does not seem like the type who would give in to threats of any kind. I've heard that S31 holds the other Augments as ransom, but Khan is also not particularly compassionate. Why would he care about them?
