New 'Star Wars' movies will arrive every summer following 'Episode VII

Re: New 'Star Wars' movies will arrive every summer following 'Episode

This is really no different than the Marvel Cinematic Universe and we've maintained a relatively high level of quality with the worst films being just decent, which is going to get even bigger as time goes on. They're working out two or three movies every year for the foreseeable future culminating in Avengers 2.

I guess if we look at the "Trilogy" films as Avengers and all of the other standalone films as the Marvel solo movies, one per year doesn't really seem that excessive. And it's unlikely that the creative staff will be doing one movie per year, but different creative teams per film (writers, directors, actors, ect) with a few people overseeing the entire project/universe like the Marvel Cinematic Universe. I don't think one Star Wars film per year is really that bad when looking at it this way.

Yup.

Re: New 'Star Wars' movies will arrive every summer following 'Episode

I'm cautiously optimistic, but yeah. The overkill factor concerns me. A new film every single year, and for who knows how long?

Disney: you'd better not screw all of this up. Don't take something a lot of us have cherished since we were old enough to write the alphabet and tie our shoes and run it into the ground because you want to pimp this franchise to death and put out a hundred new BluRays.

Disney is not known for screwing up their franchises. That being said, do you think ANY movie will satisfy all the fanboys? I'm just hoping they don't totally screw it up like TPM.

Re: New 'Star Wars' movies will arrive every summer following 'Episode

No, but then who cares about ALL the fanboys? Some of them are the most pedantic, demanding and narrow minded nerds on the entire planet.

It's no wonder Triumph the Insult Comic Dog ripped them apart so easily.

Trekkies? Oh wait...:shifty:

Us too.

Oh, yeah. I went there.

Yea. Just go into the Trek XI+ forum where you have a 1/2 dozen of what nicely can be called 'Trek tradionalists," who thinks JJ has ruined the franchise [desipite the fact it's more commerically successful than ever] and that Abrams isn't "cerebral enougn,' versus the past.

Re: New 'Star Wars' movies will arrive every summer following 'Episode

Yup. Been in there quite a bit lately.

How I didn't end up a stone cold alcoholic after reading all of that I'll never know.

Because most of it is comedy gold (particularly the posts that are intended to be uber-serious).

Re: New 'Star Wars' movies will arrive every summer following 'Episode

True.

"Enterprise underwater? My great-grandchildren will all be born without heads!"

Re: New 'Star Wars' movies will arrive every summer following 'Episode

Don't forget the latest round about the "real length" (of an imaginary ship, mind you) of the Abrams Enterprise.

300 metres

No. 1100 metres

No. 725 metres

No. 4,287,374 millimetres

No. It's in feet dammit.

and so on

That's some serious stuff.

Do Star Wars fans argue about the appropriate length of light sabres?

Re: New 'Star Wars' movies will arrive every summer following 'Episode

There used to be fans who argued and fought over the size of the unfinished second Death Star as compared to the first one. Also, the actual size of Vader's Executor Super Star Destroyer. But compared to most of the nuEnterprise stuff we've been reading?

Not even close.

Hrm. Of course. It's not the same thing at all. Star Wars is science-fantasy. It has as much scientific credibility as the Muppet Show. Star Trek, on the other hand, is pure, unfiltered, cerebral science-fiction, a perfect extrapolation of the future of mankind, and every single detail is crucially important.

Re: New 'Star Wars' movies will arrive every summer following 'Episode

And the future's going to have lots and lots of velour, miniskirts and lens flare. What rational person who studies and is intimately familiar with technological trends and evolution can possibly disagree with that?

The evidence is all there. On screen. You'd think that even dumber-than-average people would notice! But noooo! If there's no lens flare they're just not interested!

Hell, all the asinine John Harrison speculation alone will do that.

Re: New 'Star Wars' movies will arrive every summer following 'Episode

He's Khan and Gary Mitchell and Garth of Izar.

It's a time travel thing.

Re: New 'Star Wars' movies will arrive every summer following 'Episode

It's because Garth learned the art of Antosian shapeshifting. He's every character.

Plus, he's also the Enterprise.
