I really enjoyed the premiere. Looking forward to more.
I loved it. It was well Gunsmoke in Gamma World. I will keep tuning in.

The pilot was ok, I'll watch the next episode. It started out very cliched, and the main characters were acting like idiots (going into a crashed ship to salvage was such an obvious set up for some kind of raider attack I was almost yelling at them through the TV)...
Rockne O'Bannon left long ago. It's thoroughly Kevin Murphy's baby. Also, yeah, it's from the guy who made Farscape, and it's trying too hard to look like a Farscape knockoff in places - bald woman in robes, big alien guy with gruff attitude and voice (who has tentacle-like beard and hair with rings along it...)

They saw the ship fall out of orbit, as did the raiders -ergo no set up but just bad timing
I didn't have a problem with the scavenging scene. They knew the risks and were trying to get in and out quickly and almost made it.
Why would they not? Beyond the old west setting they still have ubertech. And even with the danger outside the gates the dialog makes it seem as trade and a political structure outside of Defiance is robust. Nerve and other poison gas is really just a matter of chemistryNerve gas would've also killed the defenders, since just ducking under cover wouldn't have protected them. Besides, look at how they've had to build a makeshift community from scrounged resources, what was left over in the ruins of the old civilization. Why would they even have nerve gas?
This is true, but it's really not saying a lot.Vastly superior to Falling Skies, Terra Nova and Revolution combined.
Reeducation camps could have been regional in the beginning, or the different alien races could have divided up the continents before the invasion and therefore be allowed the time to ease their human slaves into the new world order?
The Votans were in STL sleeper ships for several thousand years. They knew earth could support life, maybe but that's all they knew. Once they got here they could not leave. The fleet was stranded. They stayed in orbit for a decade negotiating with earth then a human first fanatic assassinated the Voton ambassador and war broke out. The terraforming was an accident.. When the Arks started crashing the terraforming machines went beserk and are trying to terraform the earth at random with 5 different planets ecosystems. The humans used Nukes.
The Aliens in return Terraformed Earth.
They probably hadn't intended on finding a technological infesting their new home civilization when they left from parts unknown.
Prof Brown in Star Trek II was pretty sure what would happen if you tried build paradise on top of a bustling metropolis.
You seem to be aware of information I do not possess from just watching the pilot.
Video games are for monkeys who like shiny things, but yes other gems of information transmedia have been dropped into this thread.
Saying that the games are canon will be a difficult promise to keep if the show goes for ten years and the game only survives for two. The impossibility of that promise would only be made by a loon or lemming unaware about what cometh after pride.
Lucas spent 10 years swearing that all his Dark Horse Star Wars Comics were Canon, and then he started making prequels, which shot that idea to shit and questioned completely the nazi like policing of the comic book franchise up to the point.
