If people think that I'm going to be shamed and embarrassed just because they don't approve of what I've done, they need to get over themselves.
No of course not. You should be shamed and embarrassed by the actual things you have done.

Shamed and embarrassed. For posting some harmless videos on YouTube? Something a lot of others also do on YouTube. Should all of those people be shamed and embarrassed, too? For doing something they feel is entertaining to people (many of those channels have many, many subscribers and views so *somebody* is entertained by these things)? Should the producers of a TV show that you don't happen to like be shamed and embarrassed simply because you don't like it? Who the hell are you to be so judgemental? Hell, I'm simply posting some videos from inside my car. You're practically telling me I should hate myself and be ashamed of my very existence because of it. Yet somehow I'm the judgemental one?

So what you're saying is that your Ego perk gives you immunity to the Shame and the Embarrassment status ailments. The +3 Helm of Self-Absorption doesn't hurt, either!

You're practically telling me I should hate myself and be ashamed of my very existence because of it. Yet somehow I'm the judgemental one?

Overreaction is kinda your thing isn't it

It wasn't an overreaction, it was exaggeration to make a point.

It becomes something I do every now and then and people seem to like them.

Does anyone outside your immediate family like them? They're not the best judge of what's good or not.

First of all, what the hell do you know about my immediate family's ability to judge what is good or not? Second of all, no, I also have several friends, co-workers and extended family members who have expressed enjoyment of my videos.

But hey, you guys don't like 'em so they must be wrong.

The feedback I'm getting is to make sure there's actually something interesting going on in the videos and to not try to manufacture something that wouldn't have happened otherwise. It's been stated by several people that they don't mind that I record the videos (the core purpose of recording being for evidence in the event of an incident) as long as what I'm posting has some form of entertainment value.

I thought the feedback was more along the lines of:

1) Filming for the purpose of having evidence in case of an accident without posting the video anywhere is fine.

2) Posting videos of incredibly minor traffic violations and incidents on YouTube that most people would forget about seconds after it happened seemed rather petty and vindictive.

3) If you're going to be petty and post videos to YouTube anyway, at least make it something entertaining or serious rather than clips of you going mild-flavor road rage over practically nothing.

4) Don't drive aggressively and unsafe yourself just to make a point.

You're practically telling me I should hate myself and be ashamed of my very existence because of it. Yet somehow I'm the judgemental one?

Sure, you come off slightly better than your completely fabricated version of what he said, where he criticized your very existence instead of the things you did in this specific situation.

I think it was more of a point about how family and friends might not be the most objective source of criticism since they're, you know, family and friends, but yeah, you should take it as a personal insult instead, just to remain consistent.

I'll give you this though, this thread is a hell of a lot more entertaining than your YouTube Channel. And to think, the thread was almost dead and drifting off the front page until you resurrected it again and provided more lulz. You're a giver like that.

Except that's not what he said. Did he say "family and friends?" No, he said "immediate family". Did he say that they may not be objective? No, he said "They're not the best judge of what's good or not." You're looking for extra meaning where there is none. Now I know he'll swoop in here soon and agree with you and say that's what h meant all along, but seeing as this isn't nearly the first time my family has been personally insulted on this BBS, especially by this specific poster, I'm inclined to disagree and take what he said literally.

Lighten up Francis. My point is what LoB said. Immediate family and friends are going to love them, just like how my mom thought I should've been the most popular kid in school even though all laws of Adolescence forbade it.

Forbode? Forbidded?

You mom is never going to tell you the truth. Your family's politics aside, she loves you and would be proud of everything you do...now matter how asinine or childish it may be. She's your mom. That's her job. To love you and all your crapulence without condition.

Likewise, most of your friends are going to tell you what you want to hear...or they're your friends because you share common interests. "Peaching to the choir" would work here.

However, we get to be objective. We're not your mom so we don't think you're a special little snowflake. Most of us aren't your friends so your feelings are irrelevant to us (at least the adults who don't think you're a special little snowflake). We're calling it like we see it.

Don't like it? Don't post. Stop crying about shit being unfair. Personal responsibility. Buy your damned motorcycle, stick your phone to the tank so you can film mundane traffic occurrences. Do whatever the hell you want. But if you post them in a place and ask for opinions and they're not the opinions you're looking for...

Then thank us for being honest, wipe up the tears, and back out of the room.

@ Flux:

No, if Squiggy meant it as a personal insult to your family than I have no doubt he would say as much. He's not exactly shy about speaking his mind. I was just giving you my interpretation of what he said.

ETA: There you go. Ninja'd with an explanation, which I'm sure will be taken in the spirit it was given and not misconstrued or blown out of proportion in any way.

i agree with flux, that Squiggy has the immortal psychic power of judging the objectivity of families throughout the entirety of time and space, and has singled out one family from many millions, that specifically have no sense of judgement whatsoever. and is now taunting them via the internet. heed this warning, for we are watched!

There's being objective and giving your opinion, and then there's being objective, giving your opinion in a sarcastic, smarmy, assholish way. If you want to give someone your opinion and feedback, being an asshole about it generally makes the recipient much less conducive to said feedback than had you come at them from a more constructive and neutral angle. And I'm not talking about one specific person here, that goes for about 99% of the people in this thread.

Yes, I asked for feedback, but what I didn't ask for was people to come at me personally, starting posts in other parts of the board talking shit as if I can't read it, telling me I should be ashamed of what I've done and generally painting me as a bad person for posting some 10-15 second videos of YouTube. If that's the way people here go about imparting their wisdom and advice to people outside of the Internet, I'm guessing that advice and wisdom isn't heeded too often. I can't imagine how you'd keep many friends that way.

I think it's less him liking to be pounced on and more you guys liking to pounce.
You know, there is a way not to have people throwing dirt on you: stop digging.

And just because someone is digging doesn't mean you have to pick up dirt and toss it at them, now does it?

But there's an entire thread in the Forum That Shalt Not Be Named (Z) dedicated to ridiculing people behind their backs, like the Cool Kids Table in a high-school lunch room. Which, sure, is all fine and good for people who're regular problems, trouble makers, or sure regularly the antagonist in situations, but here? Here we've got a guy simply posting videos of traffic annoyances.

So, hey, let's pounce on him the same we pounce on people going into every Trek '09 and '13 thread making complaints about minor things or it not measuring up to TOS.

Don't like Flux's videos or his motivations for posting them on You Tube? Fine. Established. You've made your point, now stop trying to string his underwear up the flagpole and move on.

no you're not.

but you have blown it up from disagreement to persecution in your mind.

There's being objective and giving your opinion, and then there's being objective, giving your opinion in a sarcastic, smarmy, assholish way.

Like how some people secretly tape other people driving and then give their opinions on the matter in a sarcastic, smarmy, or assholish way?

Yeah. I hate those bitches.

The theme of those "OTHER PARTS OF THE BOARD" is if you can't stand the heat, stay out of there. It's like a kitchen, but maddeningly devoid of women.

Guess what! Not everyone on the internet is going to like you, especially in a forum on THE OTHER PART OF THE BOARD that is pretty much populated by opinionated assholes who hate everyone. Put on your big boy pants and accept it. We'll all be better for it. Or, leave us alone.

Everyone's aware that you can see the posts on the other part of the board, since you have posted there in the past and again just a few days ago. Don't try and portray it as people talking behind your back. They have no problem saying those things directly to you, and in fact have said as much in this thread.

People were offering you criticism of the videos themselves without personal comments, and you didn't like that either. It's pretty much standard operating procedure for you. You start a thread, expecting everyone to pat you on the back, and then get pissed when the thread doesn't go the way you expect it to. Lather, rinse, repeat.

You get what you give. If you're getting smarmy, sarcastic, assholish remarks, maybe that's because that's how you come off to a lot of people.

I might be able to take this more seriously if it wasn't coming from one of the most judgmental people I've ever had to interact with. You are incapable of going five minutes without complaining about something completely innocuous, judging someone for the most superficial and pointless reasons imaginable, and being needlessly insulting.

And since you two seem to have decided to make this about TNZ I will remind you of the rules about what happens in TNZ stays in TNZ. Just because you don't like the way this thread is going doesn't mean you get to throw a grenade to create a distraction. People were reacting negatively to the tone of this thread without TNZ's involvement, and have done so with Flux's previous threads and yours on account of your attitudes, so quit making excuses.
