No, it add much-needed variety to the Vulcans.
If that were true (and it's not, see the pics others have posted), it would be a weakness of TNG and DS9, which presented Trek aliens as monocultures. Look at the variety on Earth, the way we look and act. Klingons, Romulans, Vulcans and others should all have as much variation as we do. But instead those in charge dumbed down the aliens to look and act the same way. EVERY Romulan was sneaky. EVERY Klingon was obsessed by honour and loved bloodwine. They even added ridges to Romulan foreheads so that idiots wouldn't "confuse" them with Vulcans. It was pathetic.
Tuvok was a solid character. If you let such insignificant nonsense bother you, you're watching it wrong. There are very real inconsistencies in Trek to get worked up about. You don't need to invent new ones.

Maybe StarTrekSlut is unfortunately bald and Rogaine isn't working so he feels the need to pick on fictional characters' hairstyles.

The bun rant I can deal with...but picking on Tuvok because he doesn't look "Vulcan enough" for you just seems wrong. Really? Do you want every alien race to look and act the same all the time, even though clearly humans do not? Do you walk around telling light-skinned black guys that they don't look "black enough" for you? Or how about Asian people who wear their hair blonde and get eyelid surgery? Do you want to call them out too for not looking enough like their own race? Seriously...

I hate the Vulcan bowl cut. It looked good on Nimoy but just looks like a bad wig on everyone else. The fewer Vulcans sporting that particular hairstyle the better if you ask me.

    Also, IDIC anyone?

  5. No mates im not bald.. And I cannot believe how out of control you blokes have gotten. I was trying to point out a semantic issue and you've all turned this into a racial one.

Do you not see a problem here? This is why cinema has gone down hill, this is why we dont get high quality goods in the states anymore because the likes of you want to quibble. Sure some of you might call this minutia but the DEVIL IS IN THE DETAILS mates.

I want HIGH quality Star Trek back. The JJ Abrahms Movies are close and I have high hopes... (on another rant, heres hoping he wont go and rape my Jedi religion with blasphemy and something
ridiculous like making Lando Calrissian asian.)

I apologize if I took it out of context.

But, I still don't think everyone of a particular alien race on Star Trek needs to look exactly the same.

  7. I never said anything about all the aliens looking the same. Star Trek was already diverse enough!

Throwing something new in the mix was unnecessary and in reality was the production team just being el cheapo magnifico..:

** Thats why CGI was used instead of the models.

** Thats why they let Avery Brooks run wild nearing the end of DS9, (OT Rant i know but i cant resist)

** Thats why the bridge of voyager looks like a barbie and ken summer home (be honest... Enterprise bridge was ICONIC. Voyager looks like it was made in korea)

** Even the STORY WRITING was sub par. So the holographic doctor just up and becomes sentient? I know someone is going to try to throw Vic Fontaine in my face, but at least it would have been acceptable if that was EXPLAINED EARLY ON. With the way things were, we totally disrespected the concept of Data and the miracle of the positronic brain.

    That was awesome. :guffaw::guffaw::guffaw:

  10. Case in point. Look how small minded this is. He cant just be "a romulan".. he has to be a black romulan??

Truly this has become the Obama nation... and it saddens me.

Shoulda seen the long line that formed to perform mouth-to-mouth resuscitation and cardiac massage.

No they didn't. Nicholas Meyer was unimpressed with the recasting of Alley after ST II and didn't even consider Curtis for ST VI, pursuing first Alley to reprise and then his original choice for II, Cattrall.

Without having read the whole thread, let me just say that I always thought that Tuvok looked perfectly Vulcan. And I'm glad and thankful that he did not wear one of those stupid wigs!

In the lap of squalor I assure you.
Just for once I don't write TPTB.

The writer/director, Meyer, probably had more power than the producers on a day to day basis.

I'm perfectly under control. And you're the one who turned this racial, "ghetto" for one.

    Yes, it's you.

No this issue certainly isn't why cinema has gone down hill. It hasn't. Yes there are some stinker out there. There always have been. There are still brilliant movies and television being made.

You're the one quibbling over hair. The devil might be in the details, but you're idle hands seem to be his playthings.

I want to have high quality posters back.

Agreed. So why are we going on about hair?

Maybe it would have been better if he had hair.

    You said it first.

Which "you" is that? The man from Indiana or the woman from California?

No, seriously, the person is posting from two different accounts and a username that's one character different. Compare the last few entries to the ones before.

Oh wow, I never noticed. I do believe having multiple accounts without good reason (i.e. lost a password or whatever) is a ban-worthy rule violation.

Yep... looks like someone's been having us on, what with the contradictory personal info and all. I've already hit the magic button.
