This. I've seen these paparazzi take pictures of actresses just doing ordinary things like getting their nails done and going to/coming from the gym, shopping, picking up their kids, etc.; I'd be angry if people kept doing this to me when I didn't want them to. This kind of thing was a plague of Rita Hayworth, to the point where she wasn't able to go shopping for clothes (she had to send somebody to get her clothes from the shop, pick one dress, then send the rest back.) As for Sean's politics; I think that many neocon Americans can't stand anybody who's not a neocon like them, and so, they hate them for 'pushing' a 'liberal agenda' on them (this perception being amplified by watching way too much Faux Noise [Fox News].) If Penn was pro-Iraq War and pro-Afghanistan War, and was also anti-Muslim and anti-terrorist, they'd love him a lot.
Yes, he plays parts in movies and has been known all around the world for decades, I'd say that makes him a movie star. Are there other criteria?
Yeah, Sean Penn is a a total douche of a freak for this. Because none of us have any racist relatives, right guys? I'm not a "liberal" at all and find Hollywood bourgeois liberal culture hysterically hypocritical and hateful (Found an old interview with BRAD PITT advocating socialism!!) but Sean Penn is a really good actor so I'll judge him on that. Don't care about his personal life or views at all, as his political views are irrelevent to his art. Michael Moore can go swim in poo though.
Are we talking about the same Mr Pitt whom, with his own money, founded the building of 75 houses for New Orleans families after Katrina? Yeah, hateful!
You seriously don't find anything absurd about multi-millionaire, major studio movie stars preaching left-wing economics? Without capitalism, Brad Pitt wouldn't be famous or rich. Or y'know, be able to star in that TV advert that's always on. There's no way he'd give it up. I do think he's a great actor though, so I don't let this stuff really bother me unless I'm debating with liberals on political topics.
1. No, I don't find it absurd. 2. We don't know what would have happened to Brad Pitt without capitalism. 3. Brad Pitt is not opposed to capitalism. 4. "Educate yourself first, then form your opinion" is a good rule.
You'd look less foolish if you bothered to even Google "Brad Pitt Socialism". He also claims to have been to a socialist country (None even exist in the world today!) where everything is fine. They aren't all dumb people, but these Hollywood celebrities do seem to wear their political views as one would wear a fashion accessary. See also the utterly vulgar display at the Oscars which saw Michelle Obama present the award for Best Film. What the hell has the president's love interest got to do with cinema? The agenda is there and it is painfully obvious.
None exist in the world today? What does that even mean? The French president, François Hollande, is a member of the French Socialist Party, as is his Prime Minister. You'd look less foolish if you just thought before you posted. That was, I think, point number 4.
Why in the world would anyone ever Google that? I don't give a shit what Brad Pitt (or any other actor/actress, sports personality) thinks or does in his personal time. Where their contributions to my entertainment end, my not giving a fuck begins.
Why wouldn'T there be famous people in a socialist society? There were famous actors, writers, directors and musicians in the socialist countries that existed. My mother was a famous actress in one of them and was still being recognised for years afterwards. Rich is relative. Obviously, he wouldn't be that rich but it wasn't uncommon for those famous socialist artists to get some material privileges, to have a big house and other stuff. It might surprise you but there were occasionally adverts in socialism. Obviously, they weren't paid as well as the one Brad Pitt's starring in, to put it mildly. Then again, he might be talking about the American notion of socialism which encompasses such countries as France and Sweden.
There's a special place here where you can do just that. All opinions are welcome and there is much lively debate.
Once again, a person lashes out against socialism without having any idea what socialism even is. Someone seriously needs to write a Socialism for Dummies book.
Cinema? Not much. But an internationally popular public figure advocating for an American Industry? Why, I'd imagine that all but the most blind partisan hacks could see the value in that!
