The video above looks like super mario brothers ala 1988.
For nostalgia reasons some of you will get this. Quite an old title for a remastering!

Duck Tales is one of my favourite NES games, so I'm really looking forward to this. WayForward did a fantastic job with Contra 4, so I have no doubt that they'll do this remake justice. I'm a little disappointed that it's a remake rather than a sequel, but I'll live. And here's some more good news.

I wish I knew what the big deal about this game was but unfortunately I skipped the NES days for the most part. Sounds like lots of people are excited for this so hopefully Capcom doesn't screw this up.

The big deal is (at least for me) is that while yes, the game is split up into stages, you can tackle each stage in any order you'd like (with one exception). Also each of the levels is huge and open to exploration. This was a really ambitious platformer, back in the day when 2D sidescrollers were usually of the Mario variety.

I am glad I noticed this from the main page. I LOVED Ducktales as a kid and remember the game very well. Obviously because I was a fan of the show but it really was unique. I am not a gamer but this is exciting as hell!!!! That they have kept the overall format of the game but now looks like the animation form the show and has the real voice actors!!!!!!!! After all these years, its AMAZING!

I should really go play the second game. I've played the first Duck Tales to death, but I've don't think I've even tried the sequel.

This is great news. Can't wait to get it. One of my favorite childhood games.

The second one was kind of lame in comparison. I wouldn't waste my time on it, were I you.

That trailer was all kinds of nostalgic awesomeness with the Ducktales opening theme playing, sing-along style, over clips of the gameplay and graphics, which look freaking sweet. This is definitely going to be a must-download title for me.

I just started playing the second one about an hour ago. It seems pretty good to me. What did you dislike about it?

Never played that but I'd love to see the Disney Genny games get done but I don't think those were Capcom unfortunately.

Yeah, those games were developed by Sega themselves and they were fantastic. There's quite a few quality Sega Disney games on the Master System too.

It felt like a step backwards. The gameplay/controls felt off, the soundtrack wasn't as epic, It just wasn't as all-around enjoyable as the first. For me, anyway. Played through the first one like a billion times and the second only once, maybe twice.

Yeah, I just finished the game a few minutes ago, and I agree with you now. It's not a bad game, but everything from the level design to the music just feels uninspired. It's still fun to pogo around and I loved the idea of finding the hidden pieces of a treasure map to unlock a bonus level (even if that level sucks ass), but it is a bland game.

It's great from a collector's standpoint, but unless they seriously improve the number/structure of the levels it'll suffer the same fate as the original, which could be completed in under an hour.

Suffer the same fate as the original? Dude, the NES Duck Tales is widely considered one of the best games on the NES and sold well enough to receive a sequel. All NES games, with the exception of RPGs like Dragon Quest, were about an hour long. Short games are awesome.

Super Mario games and other in under an hour? You'd have to take every shortcut available and do a speed run to manage that. Just because Duktales was TOO FUCKING SHORT doesn't mean all platform games from that era were.

Uh, yeah they were. The idea is that the games were difficult so you'd never beat them on your first try (and that's true of Duck Tales as well), but on your winning run you'd easily clear them within an hour. Super Mario Bros. 3 and a few others like Blaster Master or Street Fighter 2010 were a bit longer I'll give you that, but pretty much everything else was around an hour or so.

As for Super Mario Bros., it's pretty easy to clear that game within 10 minutes if you take shortcuts. Without shortcuts we're looking at 32 levels that are no more than a minute or two long. Yeah, an hour is reasonable.

Yeah, very true. I had remembered a racing game from that era that was overly difficult, which when completed made it really feel like the game was cheap, as I remember it only having 4 or 6 stages. I remember being quite disappointed and I avoided that company's games afterwards. I felt that it was an example of a game that they perhaps never expected anyone to actually complete due to its absurd difficulty, the difficulty a cover for lack of content. Even for the NES era, that was absurd.
