A very lucky actress cast as Karl Urban's love interest. Well, ex, but you know how that goes. ;)

That reminds me, doesn't "Kennex" sound suspiciously mechanical as a name for a near-future hew-non? Plot twist?

Yeah, I read about that, but the non-availability of Sebastian Stan to reprise the Mad Hatter is a problem - who else could anchor that series?

The plan is to center it on Alice, a character they haven't even cast yet, and is definitely unproven as to drawing power. Stan is just one of those actors who can inspire an insta-cult following. There aren't too many like him around. They should cast and introduce Alice on OUAT first, and then see if she inspires a following. Then they can think spinoff.

On that topic, Disney now has a hit movie in the Oz-verse. Maybe they could do a spinoff series based on that?

I expect Stan would be pleased to hear that he can inspire an insta-cult. But as of now, he's just another actor, playing miscellaneous boyfriends and best friends, barely there in movies with the really huge stars like Ashton Kutcher, Jesse Eisenberg, Amanda Seyfried and Natalie Portman. I was impressed with him for his role as Prince Jack in Kings. As far as popularity goes, that's like impressing the audience at a middle school drama festival.

But Disney/ABC really should try out their Alice on Once Upon a Time.

He is Bucky Barnes in the Marvel movies. He had a fairly big role in the first Captain America movie, and will have a very big role in the sequel.

Movies and TV are not the same business anyway.

Siberia, faux reality TV series in the works.

Sounds eh, but I strive for thoroughness in reporting. ;)

this genre of faux competition-reality series reminds me of
The River (2012 TV series) for some reason. The fake documentary is along the same vein. It's not a mockumentary This Is Spinal Tap (1984) but I'll take a mockumentary rather than a fake competition-reality film
This setup just gets them 16 people on-camera at all times plus the crew which sets up a nice premise for ticking off one at a time horror movie style cliche.
When it mentions "in the vein of The Blair Witch Project" I think of "The River" tv series with all handheld camera work.

I'd rather see JRR Martin try his hand at an epic space opera saga next.

And is anyone thinking of big budget movies set in the GoT universe? Because that's where I could see this going next. The high-fantasy LOTR fans are going to need something after The Hobbit has been stretched till it squeaks.

Oh okay, GRR if you're going to be fussy. ;) Hmm, his initials sort of sound like he looks.

Got another one, maybe: Looks like Twin Peaks meets Northern Exposure. Dunno if it has a genre angle but the guy in the black robe looks a tad supernatural...

Set it in Alaska, co-starring a Sarah Palin look-alike. Jokes write themselves. If Tina Fey is busy, here's your girl. (PS, not quite SFW...)

In fact, get both of them. :D

Metacritic's got a full list of pilots under development, including one I don't recall seeing before:

I always like to see signs that premium cable is interested in sci fi, even if the projects usually evaporate along the way.

The list also includes High Moon, remember that one? But I'm not holding my breath for that.

I'm still waiting for someone to film Fevre Dream, his epic Civil War vampire novel.

^^^I'd actually watch HBO again for that. Hmm, Pruitt Taylor Vince for Abner? In the end of course, anybody sufficiently glamorous and sexy can play Joshua.

But on the subject of G.R.R. Martin, what really would be mindblowing would be a film version of Armageddon Rag. Although I suppose it would take a screenwriting team of Tony Kushner and Stephen King to do it justice.

I searched the thread, and I noticed no one has posted the trailers for Eli Roth's Netflix orignal series Hemlock Grove.
The newest trailer that popped up a week or two ago:
    [yt]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rwTw03j5_Tc[/yt]
    An older, longer trailer:
    [yt]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XjLVD1G6Gd8[/yt]
They've got some other trailers on the Netflix's official page too. (The above trailers are the "Trailer" and "Emperor" trailers.) And just to warn you there is some gore and a tiny bit of nudity.
    Looks awesomely creepy to me.

The cast also includes Kandyse McClure (Dualla from BSG) and Aaron Douglas (Tyrol from BSG). McClure is visible in a couple of the trailers, but isn't included on any of the cast lists, so I don't know how big her role is. I haven't read or seen anything with Douglas, but IGN says that he will be one of the cast members at the show's WonderCon panel next weekend.

More Civil War vampires? Someone should do a mashup of that with Abraham Lincoln and Damon Salvatore. (Hmm that reminds me, I think I have that book on my Amazon queue.)

Well that wasn't a very full list after all, when I looked it over a second time, plenty of stuff missing that's still perfectly possible, but my hunch is Defender is a dead duck. :(
