Why is almost every hybrid on the show half human?

I always thought it was because our DNA melded well with others.

That has always been my take on it... as well as humans being a lot less xenophobic than other races, willing to embrace alien flesh because it's something different. ;)

I like to think Voyager's no-intimacy rules were called The Kirk Protocals.

Now, to be fair...Kirk didn't sleep around even 1/100 as much as the cliché says he did. Kirk has a reputation for being a horndog, but was he really?

How many women did Kirk actually sleep with during TOS? Deela in "Wink of an Eye", Areel Shaw (implied), Miramanee, and Carol Marcus. Not exactly a man-ho, that.

I always thought Joy Behar was incredibly sexy. She can bitch slap me any day.

And remember, Miramanee was his WIFE at the time, and he almost married Carol Marcus. Not exactly casual sex, either.

And he was in a relationship with Arrel Shaw, so that's not really casual sex either.

But yeah, Kirk's reputation for sleeping around is definitely exaggerated, and it annoys me that Abrams Trek is catering to that exaggeration.

You know I like Kirk's reputation. Why are people always trying to reboot him into less of a ladies man?

Even though we didn't see every liaison it's clear he had a lot of girlfriends in his past and that women were very attracted to him. You can tell by the way their faces get all soft and unfocused whenever they speak to him. Heck sometimes when I'm watching TOS my face begins to feel positively angelic and my lips part slightly. It's the damnedest thing.

Kirk cares. He's one of those guys who fall hard and feel bad when things don't work out.

Oh yeah. Look at what happened to him with the android, Rayna. Total wreck at the end. And she wasn't even flesh and blood. Or perhaps, he saw how perfect Flint made her and imagined the limitless possibilities in bedroom. :techman:

I don't know what he was expecting would happen. It's not like the Enterprise can orbit these planets forever and they can't come with them. Short-term relationship is all he's gonna have.

Still, you'd think by then they'd have perfected birth-control.

Miramanee was from a planet that likely didn't have birth control, and as for Carol Marcus, it's possible that when David was conceived it was a heat of the moment thing which didn't allow time for birth control. Or maybe it was planned and they ran into relationship problems later.
