Sorry, I just get a thrill seeing the man back in that uniform.

For an octagenarian, he looks pretty good in uniform.

Any chance this is not the last appearence of James T Kirk?

That uniform looks terrible though. They couldn't have spent a few bucks to make it fit a little better?

Why was Shatner at the Oscars? What was the point of it? I know MacFarland is a Trek fan (didn't he appear as an extra in ENT?), but Shatner, at the Oscars? WTF?

Good to see Shat back in uniform, but the bit was way too long.

And the undershirt collar looked dirty.

Oh, really? So I don't understand why Shatner, lately a TV actor, was dressed up as a character he hasn't played in years for an event that he wasn't really fit for. So, what was it, a weird Trek joke?

    I actually can't stand musicals...
(who ever felt depressed or got stabbed, and felt the need to burst into song anyway?)

...but that had me roaring with laughter.

I'm glad Kirk came back to save the Oscars ceremony.

Now go back and do the U.S.S. Kelvin too please...

    Oh wait. It's only a movie. :p

Meh. At his age, he can be as fat as he wants. I just want to know whether this was a predestination paradox, a classic travel within his own timeline, the creation of an alternate timeline or a Kirk from a timeline where he didn't meet Picard in the Nexus, or…

Or maybe it was actually the evil Kirk from the Mirror Universe . . . .

I saw on Facebook that the Okudas provided the images on the screens behind him. Also that this is his uniform from Generations.

The man will be 82 years old in March 2013. Assuming you make it to that age, who knows who good you'll look (hell, who knows if you'll be ambulatory?)

    It was a decent bit.

I'm not so sure. It looks really cheap in comparison to the one he wore in Generations.

Good cinematography can make a lot of "cheap things" look really good onscreen. Clearly that degree of effort was not put into last night's skit.

I take it you're not aware of the new movie coming out this year?

Or were you referring to Shatner's Kirk?
