In some crappy news, McFarlane has snapped the Assassin's Creed license away from NECA. Granted, NECA was not using it to its full potential, just released Ezio variant after Ezio variant. However, long gone are the days of McFarlane making quality product. Their Walking Dead line is one of the worst pieces of crap hogging shelf space right now.

Part of it may have to do with what happened to the Star Trek XI toyline. Retailers got burned with a lot of figures that didn't sell--some Toys R Us stores are still trying to get rid of them nearly four years later--and that may make retailers skittish about ordering another large Trek toyline, but more receptive towards a line with fewer figures (especially if they're just the main characters they think will sell really well).

But what really makes an entire cast of figures questionable, IMO, is what was said in Hasbro's actual press announcement about initially acquiring the Star Trek license in which they concentrated mainly on it as a Kre-O line, but did add in passing that some "select" new figures will be made.

I just wouldn't be surprised if Hasbro takes a very conservative approach with a Star Trek XII toyline to appease both retailers and to avoid what happened with Playmates.

My local Toys "R" Us still has some of the 12" Captain Pike figures from a few years ago and none of them ever seem to sell, even on markdown. The Trek 2009 line had some great product (Spock Prime and Nero were pretty amazing) but man did they overorder on figures that were never going to be huge sellers.

"Hulk flash sweater puppies! Hulk HOT!"

In other news, we're less than 48 hours away from the official kickoff of the New York Toy Fair and the urgent weather reports for the Northeast and New England may very well delay reports coming from the floor or even the presentations themselves. New York City should miss the worst of the storm and blizzard that will be barreling towards that part of the country but you never know.

    Stay tuned!

I agree about Hulk. Black Widow on the other hand, I'm very interested to see.

I struck gold today at Toys R Us. Two out of three of the first wave of the new 6" Iron Man Legends came home with me.

The one on the left is one of the classic armors. This one is a repaint of the very hard to find two-pack Iron Man from years back, only with a new interchangeable helmet. This is still the very best representation of Iron Man's classic armor. On the right is the modern Bleeding Edge armor, which is one of my favorite designs. The figure does not disappoint, either. He's actually the proper height for Iron Man. Far too often, Iron Man figures have wound up being rather shrimpy in the Marvel Legends line. I'm thrilled to have both of them. Now I'm on the lookout for Iron Patriot, and eagerly await the announcement of the next wave so that I can complete the Iron Monger BAF.

That's a pretty sweet score, man. Congratulations! I need to swing by my TRU and see what they've gotten in the past few days.

I'm glad so many action figures nowadays have interchangeable heads and helmets. That doesn't stop the companies from making even more versions of the characters with different heads and facial features, but at least these give us what amounts to two figures for the price of one.

I sort of wish the 2012 Hoth Luke Skywalker (Vintage) had been given two different heads instead of that really awkward and clumsy looking thermal cap, goggles and facial covering that you slid over top of the figure's head. It was a nice concept in an attempt to mimic the opening scene of Empire where Luke rides up on his Tauntaun and pulls down the flap of fabric protecting his face from the cold, but the thing was so inadequately executed that I'd have preferred two different heads.

Oh good news in a kind of indirect way. I got an email from Entertainment Earth yesterday saying that they couldn't process my Enterprise-E order that I put in almost two years ago...because it was with an old pre-paid card that I don't use any more. LOL. The good news though is that after almost two and a half year wait...these are finally shipping now!!!

Hasbro's announcement for Toy Fair...doesn't appear to be any "Star Trek: Into Darkness" action figures...just the Kre-O stuff mentioned previously. Unless they're saving this as a surprise or something for when the fair actually starts.

I have a huge collection of Star Wars AOTC figures and vehicles unopened in my loft. I also have all the Revenge of the Sith figures all unopened.

Hoping they may be worth something one day.

Got off work, stopped by Wal-Mart to grab a couple things, and checked the pegs. Wouldn't you know it, there's Iron Patriot:

So, the whole of the first Iron Man Legends wave is now mine. Sadly, it means I'm stuck with this until fall:

Curse you Hasbro for splitting the Iron Monger BAF across two waves that are half a year apart!

Do a lot of the Iron Man figures have knee and ankle joints that are hidden by the suit plating? I don't buy or collect the line and I can't remember if I've asked before.

It depends on which armor design. If the design is one that has articulated joints, like the movie armors and most of the modern armors, then yes. The classic armors had smooth joints, though, and as such the articulation will be visible.

    Also, I just batgasmed:
