American Food for Superbowl...

Everyone here is obviously watching the Superbowl and I have zero interest. :/

I'm not. I'll likely be reading.
I still may fix nachos, though. :D

Oh, none of my good friends are into it, just everyone that is here geographically since I'm in the Bay Area. I'm considering going to a friend's house for the game but we aren't close friends and I'm not sure if I'll just seem super awkward. But the food will be awesome ...

I actually surprised that nobody is grilling up any burgers and hot dogs for the game.

IMO, Burgers and Hot Dogs are a summer thing and, therefore, baseball not football.

There always seems to be at least one unusually warm weekend in February. If it lands on Superbowl weekend, you have your excuse for grilling! Of course, that may work a little better here in the South! :D

I've been invited to a couple of superbowl parties this year. The one that I am attending will have pizza, chips 'n dip, some sort of Ravens-inspired cookies or desserts, sodas, beer and possibly something else.

For the record, I don't actually care about the game itself (even with the local team being in the superbowl this year). I'm only going to the party for the social interaction and to watch the commercials.

Anything bad for you. Potato chips, hot dogs, burgers, french fries, salsa, dips, little frozen pizza things, pizza, anything small and frozen that can be microwaved, Chinese food, chili, bad beer.

I've traditionally made a big pot of jambalaya, but I'm not feeling it this year... Probably burgers, with chips, homemade salsa and maaaaybe some queso.... I might be talked into making pizza, however... One of our better local establishments sells "Pizza kits" consisting of a doughball, sauce, cheese and whatever toppings you want...

It's funny to see people not caring about this Superbowl, because where I live this is the first year I can remember where people are practically obsessed about it. From the way my friends and family are talking about it on Facebook you would think Christ himself has joined one of the teams. By virtue of my location I guess I am obligated to root for the 49ers as well, though I really have no interest in football and only watch for the commercials.

Geographically I should root for the 49ers since I'm in California, but as a lifelong Rams fan (marginally so since they moved to St. Louis), I just can't get over the great Rams/49ers NFC West rivalry. Especially since the family is split between NorCal and SoCal, we used to catch all kinds of grief from the Northerners when the Rams would always manage to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory at the hands of the 49ers. So, I'm mildly rooting for the Ravens, but mostly noncommittal.

As far as Superbo... pardon me, "The Big Game" (don't wanna get sued) food goes, everyone else has pretty much covered it:

- Wings (Hot and BBQ)
- Tortilla chips with queso, nacho cheese, guacamole, bean dip, and salsa
- Tacos, burritos, and fajitas
- Pizza (meat lovers and veggie lovers)
- Veggie tray with ranch dip
- Chili
- Sub sandwiches (cold cuts and meatball)
- Beer, margaritas, soda, and juice

Basically anything you can eat quickly with one hand.

I dislike the 49ers since they beat the Chargers the last time San Diego went to the Super Bowl.

However, my dislike for them does not approach the hatred I have for teams like the Cowgirls or the Cheatriots, so I'll merely be watching for a good game, unlike last year where I was a bandwagon Giants fan (even though I hate all New York sports teams) because I wanted Tom Brady and Bill Belicheat to lose so badly.

I'm hosting the party this year for the 4th time in a row, and our staple has been pizza. I get the "Crowd Pleaser" deal from the local supermarket: 10 unbaked large pizzas, a variety of toppings. We just leave the oven on and throw a pizza in whenever someone wants one. There's always leftovers, even though last year I had about 40+ people here.

My guests bring dips, chips, cookies, desserts, vegetable trays, and beers of their choice.

I just had a thought, won't the Superbowl not even begin until almost midnight your time Jax?? That...sucks.

Looking forward to the game.

Got friends coming around tonight. Beer, dogs and Doritos are on the menu tonight/tomorrow.

And yet the NFL still wants to have the Super Bowl over there. I guess they can't figure out how to tell time. Piss off your 150 million American fans just to please the 5 NFL fans that are in the UK.
