I figured, with all the threads focusing on things we DIDN'T like about the characters, it was time for something a little more positive. I think we can all agree that Garak, plain and simple as he is, is one of the best DS9 characters; possibly even one of the best Star Trek characters period. So let's all share our favorite Garak moments. Come on, it'll be fun.

"Major you're looking particularly ravishing today." -Garak to Cardassian Kira.

That episode had a lot of great lines. :p

Same here, Sindatur. Where Garak is concerned, it's all gold. Even when he's not the focus, he steals pretty much every scene he's in.

Although if I had to pick a favorite moment, it would be when he, Bashir, Worf, and Martok were in the Dominion prison, and he crawled back into that cramped crawlspace to work on the transmitter, even after suffering an acute attack of claustrophobia, because he had to finish what he started. It's interesting to note that the two Klingons were the ones to acknowledge how much bravery it took for him to face his fear.

I also love the scene in "Body Parts" where Garak snaps holo-Quark's neck, while the real Quark looks on in horror. Garak just seems like he's having WAY too much fun.

    From "Way of the Warrior":

Dr. Julian Bashir: They broke seven of your transverse ribs and fractured your clavicle.

Elim Garak: But I got off several cutting remarks which no doubt did serious damage to their egos.

"The sad thing is, I'm a very good tailor."

    Bashir: "Everybody is always guilty!"
Garak: "Yes. The mystery is determining exactly who is guilty of what."

Garak teasing Odo in that episode where Odo becomes human.

Not exactly a Garak moment but...

Worf: At the first sign of betrayal I will kill him, but I promise to bring the corpse back in tact.
    Sisko: I hope you're joking
    Worf: We shall see.

Garak just being around brings out the best on the characters around him.

Garak: Lying is a skill like any other, to maintain a level of excellence you must practice constantly!

    You're still a Cardassian, Garak.
You're not going to kill one of
your own people for a Bajoran
    woman.

    GARAK
    How little you understand me.

    OR

    FEMALE SHAPE-SHIFTER
    Thev're dead, you're dead,
    Cardassia is dead. Your people
were doomed the moment they attacked us.
    I believe that answers your
    question.

    GARAK
It's been a pleasure meeting you.

Garak and Dukat sniping at each other in "Civil Defense" is pure comedy gold.

More or less. All that remain are the ones I come up with in head, like this one I posted years and years ago:

"Now--I know what you're thinking: did he fire six times or only five? Well to tell you the truth ... [hysterical laughter] ... in all of this tremendous excitement, I seem to have miscounted myself. But you see, dear friend, this is a Romulan Vitrex disruptor; it is the most powerful weapon in the quadrant. It is so powerful, in fact, the power cell is completely depleted after only six shots. But, rest assured, it will vaporize you... [more laughter]... without leaving a mess. So I suppose, with the weight of the galaxy's twisted fate bearing down on you, you have to ask yourself one question: 'Do I feel lucky?' Well... [sadistic smile]... do you, Dukat?"

By the way... in the spirit of this thread.... anyone who hasn't read A Stitch in Time... do so. It was written by Andrew J. Robinson and is pure gold... and if anyone is to tell Garak's whole story, it's him.

Might be cause I just watched the episode, but the scene in Tacking Into The Wind, when Garak emerges from the shadows after Kira and the Cardassian resistance dude had a fight, and he tells her that she's gonna have to kill him much sooner than she planned to.
