I'm sure it will be very successful and I will most likely go see it, but I won't be queuing for tickets or anything like that. I'll step out of the real Trekverse and enjoy a bit of make believe in an alternate universe.

But I stand by my 'meh' until I actually see it, and I wasn't overly impressed by the trailer.

For me, whether it's 'meh' or not really doesn't matter.

I think certain parts of Star Trek 2009 are absolutely dreadful, I feel about the same way about them now as I did when the film released. But whether you love it, hate it or are somewhere in between (as I am)... it provides a reason for all of us to come here and discuss Trek.

Honestly, after the cancellation of Enterprise, I figured places like this would be ghost towns after a few years of no new on-screen product. You can only watch/discuss the reruns so many times before you simply get bored and move on to other things.

Abrams Trek provided a shot in the arm to the franchise.

A thread to complain about people who complain about a movie. Pretty poor.

Meh, still better than people making the same complaints about a film for four years even in threads that have nothing to do with it just because somebody mentioned it one time during the entire discussion.

On that note, have I ever told anyone around here my opinion of the USS Kelvin's registry? Why the hell is there a leading zero there? That pisses me off so much. Abrams so totally raped my childhood with that one.

I would like to know more. Can you please elaborate? :alienblush:

Well those who hate JJ for destroying Star Trek will be happy. Due to a small but vocal minority on the internet the film as been cancelled.

Not only has the release been cancelled but the film negatives will be destroyed. They are going to do that for all copies of the first film as well. Paramount has been so moved by your complaints that it has issued a recall of all home video copies of the 2009 film.

It must be very satisfying. Now you only have 6 television series and 10 feature films, plus endless number of novels, comics, and fan films to enjoy. Remarkable for a series that only last 3 seasons over 40 years ago. Plus an elderly cast of the original series, the living ones..., who would likely never appear in a new Star Trek film anyways....

What a minute, would that not all be true even if JJ's films still existed???
What's up with your self esteem, dude? Can't you just enjoy your film and let those who dislike it dislike it?

Well, it's like this, with the excpetion of NX-01 (which doesn't count since it weakens my argument) there has never been a starship registry that started with zero. In fact, we have had plenty three digit registries, like the USS Grissom, NCC-638.

So, by all logical canonical precedents, the Kelvin's registry should have been NCC-514. But instead Abrams and his ass-clowns blatantly violated continuity by making it NCC-0514 openly showing their contempt for Star Trek and its fans. Imagine if someone took a photo album of your most cherished childhood memories, pissed all over it and then jerked off all over the medication you need to take. That would be polite compared to the felony Abrams and his posse have committed.

^^Yeah! There are people here who've been waiting four years and have been looking forward to hating this film.

And people who disagree with that are not true fans and are everything that is wrong with our civilization.

And they deserve to be castrated.
