Also, a completely random thought I just had, but did we ever see any other Enterprise crewmembers with an English accent besides Picard?

I'm sure there must have been others, but I'm having a hard time remembering any. And yeah, I realize the show was filmed in LA, but in-universe it still seems odd there weren't more sprinkled throughout the ship (I'm not counting the accent Sirtis tried to hide while playing Troi, of course).

Ummm, Picard's accent wasn't English it was, French! ;)

Yeah, it's pretty cool. I thought I read somewhere that they were going to take a break mid-Season 2 though, repeat Season 1 and then come back to it. I'm not sure how true that is though.

I think it's great that they're airing though. I have no interest beyond watching the episodes so it was either watch them on TV or download. I'd rather the former so I can at least support the project financially in some small way.

    Your logic is flawed. FAIL.

No one watches the show freeze framed and zoomed. I am watching it on a normal TV screen. Then I notice the errors.

    I agree with you.

I was watching some reruns on TV and noticed the two-foot model at the end of an episode like that. Before that I thought it was just looking odd because of the remastering, or being in HD, or maybe even being a quickie CGI job. But it's the model.

The blue glow of the nacelle is misaligned slightly to the right of the nacelle itself. That's a fairly common mistake in HTV's work. It pops up in several episodes.

Wonder if it's due to them not bothering to correct for the distortion caused by the shrinkage of some of the film elements? Seems like it caused a lot of problems in their work.

Not sure why but I actually enjoyed Royale slightly more than I used to when re-watching it, can't remember the last time I watched it before that. It's still not a good episode by any stretch of the imagination, but I still liked the part where they discovered Colonel Ritchie's body the best.

That episode could've been much better had they played it more as kitsch and camp rather than dead serious as they did. However, Worf answering the phone is worth the price of admission.

    WORF
She wants to know if we want room service?
    RIKER
    Tell her "no."
    WORF (stern)
    NO.
    Worf slams phone.

    That was priceless.

For me, it was kitsch in many places, with the drama mixed in! Also, I felt Worf's "No" was more deadpan than stern, which made the gag for me.

"Manhunt" - a funny, but pretty pointless episode, that goes nowhere. Most "interesting" scene is Majel Roddenberry talking to herself as Lwaxana and the ship's computer. :) It also features a visit to a planet called Blueblurry.

I was surprised Worf even knew what to do with a phone.

Not to mention that everyone in Star Trek both before and after this episode seems to have a good idea on what Room Service actually is.

^ Data said something about them "making up the room", so he didn't quite have it.

This is a guy who every time he encounters a door that doesn't open as soon as he nears it assumes the door is malfunctioning, rather than, you know, it being one of those manual jobs which he's sure to have encountered in his life. Like the manual doors in the Starfleet Academy dorms.

Ugh, "Samaritan Snare" is even worse than I remembered. At the time, I probably thought the Pakleds were kinda fun in their dumb, stupid way, but now everything about them just makes me cringe. From their design to their overly idiotic portrayal.

And the fact the Enterprise crew seem genuinely baffled for good long while about what to do just makes it even worse.

The B-story with Picard and Wesley is somewhat better, but I still couldn't help but laugh at the shots of shuttlecraft crawling along at what looks like 3mph. Lol

The only silver lining to that stinker is that it set up Tapestry.

I don't have any real problem with this episode. I enjoy it for what it is - love the Pakleds!
