Okay we all know its the fourth year of the show, but since the second year was a prequel, then technically its only season 3.

It will premiere Friday, January, 25, 2013 at 9pm ET/PT

I love the trailer for the new season! :bolian:

Oh gosh, he WAS the best, wasn't he?

I was chatting with a friend this week as I handed off the season "2" dvds and he was checking out the cast members on the back cover saying all his favs were in it.

My comment... yeah, all but Quintus Battiatus. :klingon:

Still wondering why they changed his historical name.

They did? I thought that was one of the accepted spellings/names. Its not like they know a lot about the guy anyway, and Quintus was a much better character than whatever they called him in the Kirk Douglas version.

Well, we know his real name!

The real lanista of the ludus at Capua was named Cnaeus Lentulus Batiatus.

I don't really see a reason to have changed his given name to "Quintus" for the show.

They didn't want to use Gnaeus after Pompey was featured on Rome?

    I don't really know either

I can't wait for the new season. That trailer is awesome.

I was wondering how they were going to handle the massive battles between thousands of troops, and it looks like they'll be switching between long CGI shots of the armies and focusing on our main heroes fighting hand-to-hand.

Agree with everyone else on how great John Hannah/Batiatus was. One of the best villains ever.

I didn't think last season was near as compelling as the previous two but I'm hoping they got a handle on the new scope for this year.

I think the problem last year was that the rebels did very little and were just going around in circles.

I think the scope of the year and the fact that they have a lot of ground to cover to get the historical endgame will make this season better.

I asked my wife if she wanted to see the trailer for season three.

"Let me guess. Lots of sex and hacking?"
    "Yup."
"No need to see it then."

Manu Bennett is the White Orc Azog in The Hobbit. Like Gollum, they used motion capture to create the CGI.

You sure? Because I remember reading something about them having cast Conan Stevens for that role, back in the days.
He was on Spartacus and Game of Thrones.

I saw his name in the credits (yes, I always stay to the very end of a movie). I also checked on imdb.com.

Yeah, now that I've actually seen the Hobbit, that's definitely Manu Bennet underneath all that CGI. Azogs's got all his mannerisms, poses and facial expressions. Quite obvious, really.
