I was watching an episode of DS9 the other day. In my head, a weird idea clicked in my head. Wouldn't drinking that much prune juice make him a little too regular? Imagine being in the heat of battle when Worf suddenly needs to go the bathroom? Is that why the Defiant gets blasted to Hell in First Contact? Damn you Guinan! It's all your fault! Btw, this is a joke post, so don't take it too seriously.
I liked the "prune juice as a warrior's drink" running gag throughout Trek with Worf. Pretty funny concept.
No reason to think that prune juice is a laxative for Klingons. I liked that the writers kept the prune juice "gag" around. It was a nice bit of continuity.
Remember in Aliennation the effects of consuming sour milk for the aliens were just like the way alcohol affects human beings. It could be that prune juice has no laxative effect on Klingons and actually gives them a little "kick".
Come on Worf getting high because he was going into battle with the Borg . You must think he is a Ferengi or something. But it does beg the question did his parents and the Federation know about Klingons and prune juice and withheld the knowledge from Worf. Was Guinan a pusher giving him a taste for the future
Yes its a concentrated fruit juice, coming from dried plums. maybe a bit thicker then those cranberry juice mixes. Think of it as a sweat V8
His parents were surprised when Guinan told them Worf had a thing for prune juice, claiming he insisted only on eating Klingon food growing up.
It's nutritious, but not very tasty. I'd rather drink pure cranberry juice if all I wanted was a glass of fruit juice (I'm allergic to the citrus kinds). But it's great for medicinal purposes, instead of taking drugs.
Dried prunes are very tasty, if you get good quality ones (semi-moist, not totally dried out). They're also quite nutritious in addition to aiding digestion and other medicinal qualities (as Time Walker pointed out).
