Finally, the Greatest Band on Earth gets their due. I never thought I would see it.

They've been everywhere over the last few years. Massive tours, albums, DVD's, I Love You, Man, Passat commercials, American Dad....

While so many of their peers are broken up, dead, or making the county fair rounds, Rush has continued to create vibrant, powerful, original music without all the drama and the sacrifice.

    Congrats to the Holy Trinity.

I was going to post this earlier, but I don't like posting from mobile.

I'm very happy for them. They have been and continue to be the band that inspires me the most.

    Thanks, Geddy, Alex, and Neil!

Here's a nice interview with Geddy Lee about the whole thing:

    http://www.rollingstone.com/music/n...-fame-induction-well-show-up-smiling-20121211

Does any part of you have mixed emotions since it took so long?

"No. My emotions are very simple and always have been about the Hall of Fame. It's something that I had absolutely nothing to do with and had no control over, so I never thought much about it, to be frank. But I appreciated how much it meant to our fan base. It really did mean a lot to them. It was kind of a cause they championed and I appreciated their feelings but beyond that, I really did not concern myself with it."

My favorite comment in a review:

"Rush: Three men who sound like ten."

Finally! It sure took them long enough to induct them.

^^ I like how they stay so true to their craft. Most bands would hire an extra keyboard player for a live show so the lead singer wouldn't have to go behind the keyboard like that.

And that sounds almost exactly as good as the original version. Geddy hasn't lost much if anything off his vocals.

I for one don't. But read the R/S article, and you can see that Geddy is glad for the fans because so many of THEM found it to be a big deal. I like his overall approach in the interview. He's laid back about it and very even-keeled in his replies. Good lessons for anyone in a similar situation.

Of course... funny how they didn't get in until voting was opened up to fans and readers. It'd have been nice if the alleged "cognoscenti" that controlled voting before had inducted them. Still, I'm glad that they are in. As are Heart. But it's a crying shame Deep Purple didn't make it.

    Love this line:
Q: "Axl Rose stayed home last year, and the Sex Pistols refused to come, too."
Geddy: "We're nice Canadian boys. We wouldn't do that. "

I heard the announcement on the local Cleveland radio station. I'm glad they made it. They are very deserving of the honor. RUSH has a HUGE fanbase in Buffalo, Cleveland and Detroit so this whole area is a buzz.

Hats off to the Great White North...

If they'd have called it the "music HOF", it would be easier to take seriously with Donna Summer in it. And I like her music, it was on the radio....a lot when I was listening to the radio.

But it's the Rock 'n' Roll HOF and there's way too many non-rock acts in there. Too fucking amalgamated, like 95% of cable channels.

Thats why its the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and not the Post 60s Rock Hall of Fame.

That would be The Fall, wouldn't it?

Seriously, I've only vaguely even heard of Rush. I don't think I've ever heard any of their records. Well done to them anyway.

While Rush is no DEVO, they are a great band and deserve this honor. You should check out the youtubes and expose yourself to the fine music of these three Canadians.
