The ruined city in the Star Trek Into Darkness poster is London. Ben Cumberbatch's mysterious villain is standing on a pile of rubble where the Tower of London is now.
And all this has made me want to investigate London's prior appearances in the Trekverse!

Poor London went through hell in Federation's version of World War III, becoming the home base of Colonel Green. It fared much worse in the The Sundered, getting nuked early in their version of WWIII (contrary to Memory Beta's fudging, The Sundered says a nuke detonated directly over the city)

The DTI's HQ is located in Greenwich.

And IIRC, a paper mache version of the city was in one of the old Gold Key comics. There was voodoo.

Anything else not covered here or in the Memory Beta article?

I assume the nuclear air burst was at a high enough altitude that the shock wave was reduced and the main effect was EMP knocking out the city's power grid and electronics.

In A Time To Kill, President Zife is at a formal dinner at Buckingham Palace to welcome newly ascended Federation Councillors. And Alpha Centauri has its embassy in London, according to Hollow Men.

Oh, sorry, those are in the article. I just recalled them as references to the city in the current continuity.

Please don't blow up London, I work there.

I'm not sure, but I think I remember seeing a Pre-TOS version of 23rd Century London in an issue of Early Voyages.
EDIT: I scrolled through EV and Untold Voyages on the Comics DVD and I didn't see London anywhere. I might flip through some of the other series, because I'm still pretty sure I remember seeing it in one of the '90s Marvel series. I did however, come across scenes set in New York, Sydney, and Venice, none of which we have ever seen on screen.

It's nice to visit occasionally, but for this country bumpkin, it's a big scary place!

I know it's not London but was nice to briefly see future Cambridge in ATG :)

To tell you the truth, it's too big and scary for me, too. I don't like cities; I'd rather be out in the country.

Yeah, we Trekkies are not so much for crowded places, we prefer space. :)

Curiously, the Announcement Trailer does not show anything readily identifiable as London. Looks more like the action is taking place in San Francisco. :vulcan:

Yeah, I imagine London must be scary, what with the frequent attacks by Daleks, Cybermen, Autons, Zygon Loch Ness Monster androids, Slitheen, Weeping Angels, and the like.

Although I hear such incidents get particularly bad in Ealing...

This is still considered by many to be the most terrifying attack on London.

A cult BBC comedy show from 70s I've heard described as 'Monty Python for kids'. It's one of those classic TV moments that gets repeated a lot here :)

The Goodies! Terribly, terribly silly and much, much loved.

London a most unlucky place. Only last night my tube was delayed by Adipose. I would love to put Cambridge in a Trek book and perhaps one day I will get to do that.

Well, at least most of the giant monsters go after Tokyo instead. There was that Gorgo incident, however...

New York gets all the superheroes (Marvel Comics). London gets all the alien invasions (Doctor Who). Tokyo gets the giant monster attacks (Godzilla). Los Angeles gets the Demons and Vampires (Buffy the Vampire Slayer/Angel).

Hmm. Any more Cities of Hats we can come up with?
