Sorry about your loss. I've buried two cats, including the one that looks like your baby. I'm down to one cat. I'd like to get a dog, but Jinx is not a fan. Yup, my cat's name is Jinx.

My sympathies. I've buried seven cats and a dog, and I still miss every one. Here are some of my Rainbow Bridge cats. A little while after we lost Mitsi (no cats for 6 weeks - forever!), we went to the shelter and asked to see the cats with the least chance of being adopted. We brought home four. And we have the dog too -- also a rescue.

Maybe you could get a dog, if you make sure Jinx has safe places to retreat to that are dog-free during the period of adjustment. That's how we did it. Two of the cats are buddies with him now.

I'd have to start with a puppy. There's only one dog she's not afraid of and that is my brother's Yorkie. Jinx is twice Gepetto's size.

I would love to adopt a hard-to-place rescue cat and/or dog but I can't afford the colonoscopy.
