Brought to you by the letter "p" for "pedophilia"?

That's great to hear. Clash has really built something special to a lot of families and children with his Elmo character, and it would have been awful if he had been guilty of the predatory behavior of which he was falsely accused.

The title of this thread should be "'e' for 'ephebophilia'", if one really wants to make this a punchline.
The correct description of the alleged relationship would be "pederasty." The Greeks had a word for it, as they say. ;)
Ephebophilia is the Greek term for the preference. Pederasty is the Greek word for the relationship (unsurprisingly they had more than one word). Either would work perfectly fine and would be - unlike the current title - not misleading at all.

Some knowledge, even in this age of Google, is pearls before...

So apparently you aren't allowed to send emails about sex from your workplace. What if you send them on your phone? I'm assuming it was his personal account that he sent them from, but maybe he sent them with some sesame.street account?

The Muppeteer ran into trouble for an email he sent his accuser well after the man turned 18, according to TMZ, in which he said,

“I’m sorry that I keep talking about sex with you, it’s driving me insane.”
“I want you to know that I love you and I will never hurt you,”
“I’m here to protect you and make sure your dreams come true.”
“I’ll have my assistant book a ticket for you to come to NY and we can talk about this in person.”

Now of course after this thread you all read that in Elmo's voice.

Just because the accuser took back the accusation doesn't mean it wasn't a true accusation. It just means he decided to take it back for whatever reason. I mean, if there was nothing questionable going on, there'd be nothing to validate the original accusation to begin with. He didn't say "No, he wasn't fiddling me when I was 16." He's saying "Yes, he was fiddling me when I was 16, but I was okay with it."

So I guess the moral of the story is: As long as you get them to say its okay (and hope they don't decide to lie about it later), you can fuck 16 year olds to your heart's content.

Or MAYBE, just MAYBE he didn't fuck a 16 year old. Because MAYBE it wasn't true, and the guy would be in a shit ton of trouble if it could be PROVED his accusation was a lie.

But, no, it can't be that. We couldn't possibly live in a world where people are innocent. It's just easier to think the worst of people.

Looks like the Muppet Mafia got to the accuser. Sesame Street is, after all, in the inner city.

"Tickle me! Oh, TICKLE ME!!"

You know, to make sure that each "Tickle Me Elmo" worked properly, they checked it by giving it two testicles. I mean test tickles.

LOL. A man's career might be over because someone wrongfully accused him of something. LOL.

Well, lets be honest. When you have the type of job he has, you shouldn't put yourself in a position where you could be accused of such things.

Nice try, but the story now is that it was consensual. Not that it didn't happen. Just that the kid was okay with it. So that makes everything honky dory apparently.

Yeah. So when he made the accusation, it was just some faulty memory on his part, even though no one is debating that 1) they fucked and 2) that they started seeing each other when he was 16. That's the ticket. I mean, he went through the trouble of making the accusation to begin with for... no reason whatsoever, apparently. And after doing it for no reason, he was like "oh damn, my bad!"

And yes, I'm sure he was terrified that his allegedly false accusation was a lie. Even though it's absolutely nothing but a he-said/he-said situation, and the only thing that would need to really be proved is that they were seeing each other when he was 16.

Elmo obviously failed at making the guy's "dreams come true".

But come now Mister Fandango, they were obviously completely platonic when he was 16 and didn't do anything until his birthday.
