I'm still holding out hope they'll encounter one of the cat arks.

Either the blue hats, who flew straight into an asteroid, or the red hats, who flew ever onward.

I wonder if Red Dwarf really will blow up at the end of the final episode.

Why not? It's blown up before.

How many versions of the ship have we seen, anyway? They only really explained the resurrection of the Big Red for Series 8, but in 9 and now 10 they were both different models, right? Not counting the foreign CGI redos, of course.

Of course, the ship's interior looked different year to year as well, with few explanations for it (or for Starbug for that matter).

The current model is different externally, mostly in the engine area.

Actually, the engines in the S10 version of the ship are much like the "extended" Red Dwarf from S8, with the multiple exhaust ports and big ring. The S9 version seemed to be a slightly truncated version of the original, with the asteroid there but also a diminutive engine. I'm guessing that whatever they did to resurrect the ship after S8 put it into the S9 version, and the ship was subsequently upgraded into the S10 edition. It's not like Red Dwarf is in the habit of really explaining why, of course. :P

Ah, Red Dwarf. The show that gleefully stamps continuity into the dirt and leaves it shivering in fear.

That was great - actually the best season finale the series has had...

    Five so far.

Original, Series V (replacement for the original model that fell off a shelf), Series VIII (Remastered CGI model) , Back to Earth, and Series X (hacked up Remastered physical model)

It was a sad Rimmer episode... I thought it was a nice way to end the series anyway.

As for the show itself, I can't believe in 2012 I can say that I liked a new season of Red Dwarf. Perhaps it was the low expectations after Back To Earth, but the season as a whole was outstanding. I'm hoping they can keep it up!

That was really good. We were chortling away, especially at the seppuku scene.

Also Rimmer writing a letter to the Geneva Convention.

Cat was finally relaxed enough to deliver his pearls of wisdom convincingly.

    ^Yes that made me giggle.

I liked it, not the best episode of this series but not the worst, and I really liked the Rimmer manouver!

Then I challenge you to a duel accross time and space...

But we met a Rimmer a couple episodes earlier and he was a spineless tosser too.

I don't like it when the unredeemable is magically white washed.

I thought it was a decent episode, better than the previous two. Hopefully it is the beginning for more episodes.

What's to say that Rimmer wasn't also the son of a preacher man... erm gardener?

Also, Rimmer has had the heroic streak show once or twice. Look at the ending to Out of Time. "Better dead than smeg".
