It seems every other agency out there is conducting a zombie drill. I find that most interesting.

Are they correct in saying that defending against "Zombies" allows them to practice for every kind of situation they might face?

Do they just have too much time and money on their hands?

Do they know something the rest of us don't?

Romney has been practising for the zombie apocalypse for years. Remember when he strapped his dog to the roof of the car? Evacuation drill. He knew the zombies would go after the dog first.
 
This is ha-ha funny and all, but on the History Channel last night, was a show where they were taking a pretty semi-serious look at how we, as a world, would likely react to a zombie infestation... They were likening it to the influenza outbreak in 1918... There were a couple of tongue in cheek moments, but they were tackling it head on... The only thing missing was the crazy-haired guy from Ancient Aliens...

My (admittedly VERY impressionable) 12 year old son's comment was "But I thought zombies were fake!!??)

This started becoming "serious" when the CDC released it's Zombie Preparedness campaign as a way to take a tongue in cheek route to raise awareness for REAL disease and disaster outbreaks. I think it's funny that the zombie thing has become a semi-serious business..
 
I know. A Canadian university even modeled how a zombie outbreak would likely unfold.

I get a kick out of the History Channel. It used to be the Hitler Channel, but in recent years, it's more like the 'there's no proof aliens weren't here' channel.

I think you're probably referring to someone I know, actually, Dr. Robert Smith?, from the University of Ottawa. (That's not a typo, he had his name legally changed to "Smith?" so that Google searches would find him, and not the lead singer for The Cure.) He's a mathematician who wrote a paper using zombies to illustrate the spread of contagious diseases, and now every time someone in the media wants to talk to someone about zombies, they call him.

He's also written a paper on the spread of Bieber Fever, and co-written one book about Doctor Who, and co-edited another.
