Northeast Frankenstorm, hurricane Sandy.

Also, the Most Unintentionally Snobby Hurricane Sandy Facebook Update? My friend (who is very sweet, but also very wealthy and slightly clueless) wrote, "I've already eaten most of my emergency brie."

I don't know, I think that's kind of funny. A bit like gallows humour.

The last time my power was out for any significant length of time (late June of 2008), I had no time to prepare, as the storm appeared pretty much immediately. I ate peanut butter sandwiches for four days straight.

Oh, I definitely thought it was funny. Hence my comment about my own emergency manchego (funnier 'cause it's true). The really funny thing, though, is that she didn't mean to be funny.

Thanks to everyone who's been wishing us well. So far so good down here, but the gusts are getting crazier and crazier, and we're expecting another 3 to 4 inches of rain tonight (plus whatever happens tomorrow).

Lights are starting to flicker in Federal Hill. Be safe.

You, too. You got here! :)

I did. Got in at 1:30 p.m. yesterday after the bumpiest flight I've ever had. Just in time to drown.

Power just came back for me, no clue how long it will last though. Wind is pretty bad, gusts up into the 40mph range. Trees and wires down everywhere, battery powered scanners are a wonderful entertainment tool when power is out in a storm.

Abc news was just saying the storm may only last another 7 to 10 hours for the NYC area at this strength.

I got a kick out of this:
"This is an amazing shot of New York today with the Frankenstorm bearing down. Nature is so powerful, yet so beautiful."

I've been lucky today. The office was closed, and the power has stayed on (with only minor two-second black-outs). We'll see how that luck holds up tonight/tomorrow.

You know what always cracks me up about big storms like this?

I bet in 9 months there's going to be a surge in East Coast birthrate.
