Have You Had Your Breakfast?

I do eat breakfast shortly after getting up, and I try to make it pretty balanced. Low fat dairy, fruit, whole grains, but I keep it very low cal - usually under 250 - so I can kind of pig out for dinner without going over. :P

I feel great having a small breakfast. Some people need to eat more but this just works for me.

Sometimes I do, sometimes I don't... if I do, I usually make it 3-5 dates and freshly squeezed grapefruit juice. Very nutritionally sound, and not too heavy.

I have discovered eating smaller quantities at each meal actually makes me feel livelier and lighter on my feet with a more even mood throughout the day, rather than that lethargic heavy foggy feeling you get immediately after large meals.

I don't make breakfast for myself in the morning before I head to work. That's valuable time I could be spending asleep. Instead, I swing by the local Starbucks on my walk from the bus stop to the office to get my morning latte. I then eat a whole grain bagel with peanut butter, so that I get an adequate serving of protein in the morning.

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day!

Most days I start with 3 scrambled eggs (made with lots of butter and cream) sometimes with a couple of strawberries if I was lucky enough to find some in the store.
Very low carb diet.

For all the people saying they can't function without breakfast, feel too hungry/ lethargic etc, that is only temporary.

If you were to switch to 1 large meal a day for example you would feel like crap for a few days but after you get used to it you're back to normal.

I have done everything from 6 meals (back when people thought there was a benefit to it), down to 1, and I personally felt exactly the same in terms of energy/hunger etc after a week or so. Humans are pretty adaptable.

Personally right now I have a massive bowl of my kids cereal every day!! They have chocolate squares right now.

Breakfast is usually one of two things:

8 Egg whites with 1/2 cup oatmeal, cinnamon and fresh fruit, all made as an omlette

OR

Fruit Muelsi with chocolate protein shake over it (skimmed 1% milk)

Both set me up for a pretty good morning (or afternoon/evening if I have come off working lates/nights)

Hugo - could do with some more variety he supposes
