See as well as the lacklustre Black Spot he also wrote the middle episode of the first series of Sherlock, you know the kinda dull one

Indeed, there's an uspecified number of "anniversary specials" to air later in the year, with presumably the big one in November.
That was my impression too, but, a week or so ago, when I expressed that opinion (Or the possibility of S8 starting to air in 2013), someone came along and implied it's already been confirmed there will only be The rest of S7, 1 Anniversary Special, and the Christmas Special in 2013?

They held back the second half specifically so we'd get more DW in the anniversary year. We will get the back half of season 7, the christmas 2013 special, plus all of season 8, in addition to whatever anniversary specials they're doing, AND the "making of" movie about the early days of Who.
We're getting more Who this year. Not less.
We're not going to get all of season 8 in 2013. When are they going to film it? If the Anniversary special won't shoot before April (due to Sherlock series 3), then Who won't film until after that, and there's simply not time on the calendar to get 14 episodes of filming (a season of 13, plus the Christmas episode) in before the end of the year on the schedule that they've been keeping.
I'm honestly doubtful we'll get any of season 8 in 2013.
A regular episode takes about three weeks to film, while a special takes four. So two anniversary specials, a Christmas special, and 13 regular episodes would take (3x4 + 13x3 =) 51 weeks, or an entire year. Maybe a little less if they double bank an episode, but still at least eleven months. With a three month hiatus after this year's filming ends in December, they'd be starting in April 2013 and not even finishing until the end of February 2014. Even all of season 8 with no anniversary specials would take until the end of December, like it's doing now.
If they put production into high gear they could probably finish five regular episodes and a Christmas special (like this year) plus a couple anniversary specials for broadcast in the second half of 2013, which would narrowly make for more in a single calendar year than ever before. But I wouldn't be surprised if it was just three or four anniversary specials (perhaps arranged into a brief "season") and a Christmas special.

Gaiman should follow up his Lady Tardis episode with a Lady Cyberman episode, what could go wrong?
I'm hoping this was Facetious, but, what's gone wrong with it before is the Cyber King Special and the Cyberwoman Tocrhwood Epsiode. Having said that, I believe Gaiman could easily wipe away that stench if he was to take on the challenge
They should just have given Gaiman a second Short Form Dramatic Presentation Hugo when he announced the episode while accepting his first.
