These petty astrolabe rules are for the small minded. H.G. will find away around it.

And if this does happen I predict that it is what Mrs. Frederic wanted to happen. That's why she gave H.G. the astrolabe in the first place, setting in motion events needed to occur to undo the evil whatsamathingy that Artie brought into the world. Thus, her crafty little smile.

I wonder what would happen if the astrolabe were destroyed...

But wasn't the astrolabe a MacPherson back-up plan? I had assumed that H.G. has always known about its existence through that link; but she also knew it was of no use to her due to its limitation. Of course, who's to say H.G. didn't already use it the distant past? What happens if H.G. were to undo her one day? The next season of Warehouse 13 may see a big shake-up on the status quo.

As for the overall arc, I would join in the speculation that Artie himself is the great evil that will be with him for the rest of his days. Each artifact downside usually has a correlation to the origin of the artifact. In the case of the astrolabe, the upside is that you step back across the line into the day before; the downside could relate to the reason you could do that. In effect, we live in a world where two days always exist at the same time; some might even say that makes the world bi-polar.

The Artie is evil theory was pretty much shot down, Mrs Frederic can tell when something's wrong with people/time (oh my god she's El Aurian) so she wouldn't have left evil Artie to do whatever he wanted.

Mrs. Frederic clearly has a plan and all the other doofuses are being set in motion to accomplish it.

I don't know if I'd put it quite that way, but she does seem to have a plan.

^I love Mrs. Fredrick. I used to love how she would just pop and scare the crap out of people. I kinda wish they would start doing that again.

She is pretty awesome. I like her pink suit.

Wow, I spent that whole episode wracking my brain as to who Jinxie's mom was.. and just looked it up. KERRY WEAVER from ER.

Boy did I love her, so super competent and crabby.

Come to think of it: If Brother Data wants Artie to use the astrolabe again to undo his undo-- isn't it too late for that? Or is the undo-the-undo switch separate from the undo-the-last-24-hours switch?

Yeah I'd imagine it's a case of reset one day, restore last action

It gets sillier and sillier with each passing day, though. At what point is the cut-off for a reversal? And if you negate the artifact in order to reverse all of its effects -- something that clearly happens based on past evidence -- does that mean nearly all of recent history is wiped out in the snap of a finger? It's not like Artie is the only person to have used it; I believe it was Brother Adrian himself who said the Reign of Terror during the French Revolution was the most recent example of the 'great evil' that was unleashed. And since it was, and we all know about it, it clearly wasn't reversed. So, at the very least, time should be reversed to that period of time, no?

Also, wasn't the astrolabe specifically mentioned to be a sanctioned failsafe should anything happen to the Warehouse? I'm almost positive that was the case, which is how Artie learned of it to begin with.

Sanctioned by Warehouse regents maybe, but the Brotherhood are a separate bag of nuts.

Remind me when the astrolabe was mentioned as being sanctioned?

I did like how Artie finally told Mrs. Frederic and HG about what happened--and Mrs. Frederic agreed with him.

As for Pete and Mykes being out of that storyline...I like it. They keep the main task of W13 going, have "fun," and we get some character and good lines out of them.

Glad Jinksie is okay now. They let it play out the right amount, I think. Long enough to be an issue, but not "when is this going to end cause it's in the way now." And we got background on Jinks.

Artie made some cryptic response about the watch being designed to locate a failsafe iirc.

True story: At the WH13 panel at Shore Leave this year, we were going on about H.G. Wells, Alice in Wonderland, disco balls, neutralizer goo, Twizzlers, Myka's changing hairdos, and so on, when somebody in the backroom said,

"I've never watched the show, but . . . do you have any idea how crazy you all sound?"

Since I'm whatever the Warehouse 13 equivalent of a Trekkie is I'll take that as a compliment.
