the final line was the only part of this episode that bothered me actually...

"Doctor Who?"

The final question according to last season... which has been asked now... so i'm guessing with the Dalek's all asking 'Doctor Who?', it will be a build up to the Fields of Trensilor where The Doctor has to answer...

And it's not the first time a companion actor has appeared earlier - imagine if Moffat and the BBC had made and premiered The Chase, and made a big fuss about the big twist in New York - Peter Purves as Morton Dill, before he joins as Steven in the last episode...

Sad to say that Amy and Rory's plot was definitely the worst part of the episode. Well, that and Moffat episodes lately always seem at the start like they're rushing through the story. Other than that, the whole thing was pretty damn fun. Although, yeah, the JLC reveal was a bit weird.

Very good and all that but...

What's up with Dalek Cann...I mean Prime Minster Cann? (yes we all know who you are). I thought that he'd rejected the Dalek way and engineered their total destruction and yet here he is leading the Parliament as sane as a Dalek could be. Quite possibly the iDaleks grabbed the pre Time War Cann and made him their leader but still...

American here, can't wait to watch it tonight! T-Minus 4.5 Hours. Finally got BBC America in HD on my provider, DVR ready, looking forward to it, I've restrained myself from looking at all the spoilers in this thread :p

Internet-breaking spoilers my arse! I didn't even recognise who it was - meant nothing to me!

So, apparently the secret after the credits was Jenna Louise Coleman. Who I totally didn't recognise. Her character's name is Oswin Oswald, which is different than companion Clara Oswin - I wonder if she'll be a sister or ancestor or something. Either way, it means the majority of viewers won't have been surprised tonight, but will be at Xmas. So why the hype for tonight? I'd actually have got more out of it *knowing* the spoiler because then at least I'd have known who the fuck she was meant to be...

I just got off the phone with my gf, who isn't the greatest Dr Who fan in the world, and only watched a bit of the episode tonight, and she knew it was the new companion!

I don't think it was supposed to be Dalek Caan.

Not really Moffat's fault that, is it. :p

She's a fairly well-known actress from Emmerdale and Waterloo Road, and her casting was announced some time ago and publicised widely.

That was the thing I wondered about. This episode would play entirely differently to the people who recognized her and knew that the actress was the next companion than it would to those who had no idea who she was beyond the guest star of the week.

But I think that's great. I have another friend on facebook who put "I'm sad souffle girl died :("

So I cheated a bit (though I'll watch it again proper in a bit) and watched this early.

An OK episode, not great though, seemed kind of thin. The events propelling this episode were a bit odd though. Amy and Rory's split seemed out of characters as were the actions of the Daleks. And Dalek zombies with bad CG, well.....

I thought that was JLC at first then figured I must be mistaken and she just look similar until I saw the credits. So we have that mystery to look forward to. I liked JLC as Oswin though, better than I feared from seeing stills of her so the character stuff at least carried this episode.

And "Eggs" Rory?

Not bad. And unlike the last Dalek story it wasn't a two-parter missing the second part.

Also, I wonder whose Youtube channel they stole the titles from.

I like two-parters. They are more fun..especially with the Daleks. Stolen Earth/Journey's End are two of the BEST EPISODES in ALL OF SCIENCE FICTION!

Btw, this episode really does show how scared the Doctor is in front of the Daleks..like realllly scared..terrified almost.

And, did the Doctor say that the nano-clouds doen's affect time-lords or not? because if it didn't, why didn't he give Amy his arm-band earlier..
