Help a Newbie

Greetings fellow nerds and fans!
I'm quite new here... Actually i'm new to all the star trek thing... I've only watched some random episodes, but I loved it...
So I decided to watch'em all... But to do that I had to come here, create an account and ask directly to you, the most awesome fans:
In which order should I watch the series/episodes? Deep Space first? Then Voyager? Ughz i'm kinda lost...

Btw, sorry bout my grammar mistakes... English is not my main language....

Watch the first 5 episodes of each series. Then decide which one you're hanging out to see more of. Keep in mind first seasons can be slower than other seasons.

This way you will have had a nice intro to all of them before you set out on one series.

Chronologically in universe it would be Enterprise - TOS - TNG - DS9 - VOY. The latter three overlap a little so if you really want to watch them chronologically, you'd have to search for a timeline that lists them in order (there are a few around). The broadcast chronology is almost the same with the exception of ENT which was the last Trek show to air.

Enterprise gives some context as far as time, alien species, etc. You get to see a couple of developments in technology and species relations with humans. As long as you keep and open mind, you can really start with any of them.

Like mythology? Start with DS9

Like thoughtful approaches to things? Start with The Next Generation

Voyager is a bit of a departure and there's a tie-in to TNG, so I wouldn't start with that one. (personal opinion)

They are all great in their own way and most folks find a favorite, be it time period, cast, or favorite aliens. Mine are Enterprise and TNG. Personally, I find TNG so well-rounded, I think it's the best overall.

May I ask how old you are? Male or female? (Voyager has the only female Captain of a series.)

I'm 20 yo, male... I watched a few episodes of TNG... Quite awesome... But I'll follow Count Zero's order...
Enterprise - TOS - TNG - DS9 - VOY.

Again, thank you... For your opnions nad tips ^^

Enterprise works much better as a coda. PLEASE do not watch Enterprise first!! Most of the fourth season is all about stuff you saw in the other series. It will not have anywhere near the impact if you watch it first.

People have seen it first and survived. ;) I think it's self-contained enough to watch it on its own. The only episodes that will probably be somewhat confusing are the Mirror Universe ones and, of course, TATV but I wouldn't recommend watching that, anyway. ;) Also, I wonder what it's like to already know some of the background of things coming later.

I've created a PDF file that has a list of all the episodes in the order that they are set in. You can get it by clicking HERE. I'm doing a complete rewatch of all of Trek with my gf and this is the order we're going in.

Ah, I asked your age, because you should probably be warned about production values in the 1960's (The Original Star Trek). As someone who was alive when the original series aired, may I say, you are so young that you have undoubtedly NEVER seen television that looks the way TOS looks. Computers were still new and big!

The women (and their hairstyles) were bigger than you're used to seeing on television. Miniskirts & boots were the fashion then, so the skirts were as high as possible. The sets will most likely look cheap; they do to me anyway.

The thing to to focus on in TOS are the stories and how people treated each other. It was groundbreaking at that time. Roddenberry's vision for the future gave people such hope for improved racial relations and opportunities in our future. Racial relations were not good and respect for "diversity" was not even a concept yet.

You're in for a tremendous adventure! Live long and prosper, Trauer! Engage!
