I thought it was a great episode and a great cliffhanger. Also a bunch of great mini-cliffhangers. What will become of Andy's quadruplets (probably grow up into sexy young Fae overnight)? What will Alcide do as Packmaster? What does Whatsername know about Warlow? What will become of Luna? And Sam and the kid? Is Jason hallucinating or can he see dead people?

The only thing I didn't like was Jason turning into a hard-core fang banger. That's been done to death. I hope it wears off quickly.

Great, extra scenes... that you have to look up online... What is this, a comic book movie?

Anyway I did enjoy the flashback to the 90s with the Stabbing Westward track during the credits. I'm not saying I particularly like the song, but I had completely forgot about it. That may have been the high point of the ep for me. Hearing a song that I don't particularly like.

Finally something for Bill to do. The mad raving religious lunatic was at least a diversion from the boring old fart lusting after Sookie, but now he's gonna be the big bad next season. I'd have preferred him to be fully killed off but he's one of the main stars (for some reason) so he'll have to stick around.

Has Eric's sister joined the main cast? Hope so. :)

Russell's death was a bit of a waste, then again he was always focused on the fairies, and with so much going on in the episode it made sense to simply end his storyline as quickly as possible.

I always find it funny that the humans can run around the compound and manage to easily defeat the vamp soldiers whereas before they're lightning fast and no one can touch them.

It does set the following season up with a fairly clean slate; the Authority is gone, and vampires are being pursued as the bad guys following the Authority-led terrorist attacks, not to mention Mrs Shape Shifter's (forgotten her name) announcement on TV and Russell's antics (obviously) not going down too well with the general public. The vampires will probably retreat underground in the aftermath, and Bill will either be seen as another Russell or as a true messiah. Elcid did sod all this season so he could go down to the shops to buy a sandwich and it would be an improvement.

They really need to get rid of Sam and his bar and everyone that works in his bar. Just focus on the vampire and core human team.

I don't think that means what you think it means within the context of the show. ;)

Although, Jason has been that too when he slept with Jessica.

Some of the lines were shoutouts by Ball et al., clearly aimed at critics of the deranged plotting. There really isn't any dramatically valid reason for characters to comment to each other about what's entertaining.

No human being could have survived Jason's experience in the meadow. The notion that it would just make you hallucinate and that hallucinating would make you a supernaturally fast shooter who never misses is certainly an amazing twist. Contra Ball, I'm pretty sure that doesn't make it good writing.

I kind of dislike being instructed in esthetics during a nutty soap opera.

It does raise the question if the zap from the fairies gave Jason the ability to see more than a normal human; remember Russell could see the fairy tent once he drained the crazy lady's blood (not that Jason drank any blood). Remains to be seen if he really is hallucinating or if he can see ghosts.

Also, Jason has a bit of the books still to come should they ever go back down that path, such as the panther arc and the old high school teach/witch (who appeared in ep 1 or 2 of this season).

Oops, quite right. :rommie: Obviously, I meant extreme vampire hater, like when he was in Steve's cult. Do they have a term for that, too? I don't remember.

Isn't Jason half-fairy? Couldn't that possibly cause some weirdness with him?

^^^No, the show has said explicitly that Jason has no fairy blood. Yes, I know that doesn't make any sense except in a Sookie-is-the-only-special-person-in-the-whole-wide-world kind of way. The selective ability of a human body to withstand that kind of blow goes along with selective genetics I suppose.

Keeping everything in a matched set is an unimaginative decorating scheme in my opinion.

Ah. I've still only seen up to the end of Season 3. I just know about the whole half-fairy thing from reading about the books, and I think there they specifically say that Jason got at least got the fairy attractiveness.

He does have some panther mojo in him...

I'm willing to give the fairy zap thing a pass just based on the general lack of realism in TV violence.

I enjoyed this season about as much as the past 3 seasons. I think this show is cheesy entertainment and kind of stupid but on that level it works pretty well. I mainly tune in to see what over-the-top thing they'll do next. Sam exploding a vampire from the inside definitely qualifies. Holy crap.

I have a hard time buying Bill as a villain since he's been established as a good guy for so long. They'd established the reasons pretty well and it was believably acted but it still feels strange. I guess we'll see how it plays out next year.
