The Terran Empire vs The Federation: The Battle of Bajor

Mars

Commander
Red Shirt
Just imagine this situation Bajorans at their stations nervously watching the Cardassian Frontier, when an unexpected attack comes from Federation Ships appearing through a wormhole in the Bajoran System. Bajoran ships are dispatched to contact the apparent Federation ships and are fired upon. One Bajoran ship manages to get a close up view of one of the ships, apparently a Constitution class labled the ISS Enterprise and is has a symbol on its hull of an Earth globe impaled on a sword. After Demolishing the Bajoran Fleet, and Image of George Kirk, James Tiberious Kirk's father with gray hair, in an Admiral's uniform demands the total and complete surrender of Bajor to the Terran Empire.

How quickly could the Federation respond to this threat? What if Elder Spock was missing and he was last seen heading in the vicinity of Bajor?

I would totally love to see JJ Abrams' take on the Terran Empire. Just a flat-out balls-to-the-wall All-Mirror story.

This sounds like a good idea for a fanfic!
Not sure it was intended for this forum, though.

Mars, let me know if/where you want the thread moved.

Well it takes place in the Star Trek XI timeline, that timeline has its own seperate mirror timeline, in that the events which occured in the Mirror Universe after the seperation of the XI timeline from the original don't occur the same either in the XI Mirror Universe timeline. For example the events in Enterprise Episode "In A Mirror Darkly" parts I and II do occur, but the Original Series "Mirror Mirror" Episode and everything after that don't occur. The Bearded Spock isn't fated to meet Original Timeline Kirk after a transporter accident in beaming up from a planet, but Bearded Spock isn't inspired to change things or make himself Emperor. The Mirror Kirk keeps the Tantalus device and does who knows what with it, but that is in the future so it might not even happen. What does happen is Elder Spock gets the idea that Mirror Universe Vulcan wasn't destroyed, and he recalls an episode where where Kira enters the Mirror Universe in the 24th century while accidentally entering the Bajoran Wormhole at warp. Well Spock repeats that experiment in the 23rd century, while keeping the existance of the wormhole a secret, he seeks out the Vulcans of the Mirror Universe and finds his mother and father there. Vulcan of the Mirror Universe has all sorts of people he knows, and he even meets a version of himself, so he tries to recruit these Vulcans to come over to the other side of the wormhole and make a new beginning free from the oppression of the Terran Empire. Unfortunately for Spock, the Terran Empire has spies on Vulcan, some of the vulcans there are working for the Empire and like the way things are there now. The Empire learns about Elder Spock and his plans to return to his Universe with a bunch of vulcans from this one. The Emperess Hoshi Sato III then organizes a military expedition to conquer the other side, she remembers the USS Defiant, and how her grandmother used it to make herself Empress after killing Captain Archer, so she figures she can conquer that other side and expand the Empire to two universes.

^^IDW is adapting Mirror, Mirror for their Abrams timeline comic series in November.

Really? Great! I wonder if they'll try to involve MU Nero and his ilk...

Check this page out. It actually talks about all IDW's November releases, which also includes a compilation of the previous Abrams timeline comics, the latest issue of the TNG 25th anniversary series written by Braga, and the latest issue of the Star Trek/Doctor Who crossover series. But there is also the coverimage of the Mirror, Mirror adaption, depicting Quinto Spock with a goatee.

We've had characters visiting the Mirror Universe, we've even had Mirror Universe characters visiting the Prime Universe, but what we haven't has as yet was a knock down drag out fight between the fleet of the Terran Empire versus the Federation, and the best way to accomplish this is through the Bajoran Wormhole, as we have an episode where a Federation spaceship actually visits the Mirror Universe, problem was it was in the wrong era to have an encounter with the Terran Empire. The new timeline puts us right back in the proper era, spock has future knowledge of the Bajoran wormhole and perhaps that incident, all we have to do is let the Terran Empire find out about it as well, and then they can seize Bajor and use it as a jumping off point for an invasion of the rest of the Alpha Quadrant. The vulerability is also their access to the wormhole, if the Federation can cut them off from it, they could then more easily defeat the Terram Empire Starfleet.

DC Comics' old The Mirror Universe Saga did a pretty excellent job of an attempted full-scale invasion from the mirror universe. Set right after STIII.

Yeah but Star Trek XI sets the stage more nicely. At the time of Star Trek III the only established means of getting to and from the Mirror Universe was via transporter malfunction during an ion storm, now we have the Bajoran Wormhole thanks to DS9, and because Spock traveled back into the past from that era, he also brings knowledge of that wormhole with him. Since he himself had met the Mirror Universe Captain Kirk, he probably takes a personal interest in means of getting to and from the Mirror Universe and probably remembers the Kira incident for that reason. Spock might realize that according to the history of that Mirror Universe as reported by Kira, there would be no Spock to attempt to save Romulus in the Mirror Universe, since Emperor Spock was killed at the fall of the Terran Republic to invading Klingon forces, thus no Nero, no red matter, and Vulcan still exists in the Mirror Universe, and it is not that different from what Vulcan was before it was destroyed by the red matter in this one. Spock realizes that there are billions of vulcans living on that planet, if he could get significant numbers to cross over into this one, he could get a very good start it reestablishing the Vulcan race, and perhaps save many other species that were native the the planet vulcan as well thus that is Spock mission as he warped through the Bajoran Wormhole that he kept secret. After all if no one knows about it, they can't make a similar journey and spill the beans to the Terran Empire by accident or under torture.

I think the implications of Spock's knowledge of the possible future of this new reality is a lot more interesting than the Mirror Universe, which would get old quickly after the fun of seeing the good guys dressed trashily and behaving badly wears off.

The Bajoran wormhole is a good place to start. Now that the Feds know about both it and the Dominion and the probable comsequences of venturing through the wormhole, what do they do about it? If it were me, I'd make sure nobody ever uses that wormhole. Better to leave the Dominion hornet's nest alone.

But that means moving into Cardassian controlled space to barracade the wormhole in some way (that won't arouse suspicion), and not telling them the reason for Federation "aggression," because the last time the Cardies knew about that wormhole, they teamed up with the Rommies to make a bad situation worse.

And how do you barracade something without arousing suspicion? The whole situation raises some interesting possibilities.

This is 129 years earlier, its possible Bajor was not yet conquered by the Cardassian Union at this time, if they had been occupied for 129 years, I doubt they would have such an active resistance by the 24th century, because frankly they would have gotten used to Cardassian occupation. I think Bajor's occupation was a recent thing by the time DS9 got started, Bajorans still remembered a time when they were an independent system, the 23rd century might have been that time they remembered.

I wonder if they will use light side Nero from the beginning of Countdown, that would be fun.

This being the MU, Nero may be even nastier there than the RU version was...
Who would the MU be seeking revenge against? Mirror Spock is dead, remember? In the novels it was the Klingons that destroyed Romulus. Nero if he was around would be seeking revenge against the Klingons.

I'm pretty sure the Occupation lasted for about 50 years.

Yup.

That still leaves Bajor unoccupied at the time represented in the JJ Abrams film. Terrok Nor hasn't been built yet either, so there is no DS9 space station. I wonder what pre-occupation Bajor would look like. The wormhole is far older than that, so it is probably lurking about somewhere in the system.
