Re: sf/f TV development news - 2012
Both of those sound a bit intriguing, but we need more details.

I was thinking it sounded an awful lot like Wild, Wild Westhttp://www.hollywoodreporter.com/li...uckleberry-finn-show-pilot-development-363795
Finn and Sawyer
The network is developing Finn & Sawyer, a contemporary take on Mark Twain's The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, The Hollywood Reporter has learned exclusively.
The drama hails from Detroit 1-8-7 duo Jason Richman and David Zabel and is described as an adventure-themed reinvention that revolves around the two famed literary characters who re-meet as young men in their 20s and form an investigative firm in a bustling and steampunk
New Orleans.
So, this could be a direct prequel to League of Extraordinary Gentlemen?
I enjoyed him on The Talking Dead, and hope he does it again this year. He didn't look anything like Chuck, LOL.
That was my second thought.I was thinking it sounded an awful lot like Wild, Wild West
Neither of those really sounded that interesting, until the last few words. I am intrigued by the steam punk and Dorian Gray mentions. Neither of those are things you see on TV much these days.http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/li...uckleberry-finn-show-pilot-development-363795

Race to Witch Mountain's Matt Lopez has sold Gothica, a supernatural mystery drama to the network.
The project, which is not related to the 2003 Halle Berry feature Gothika, centers on a woman searching for her own identity in modern San Francisco who delves into a world of supernatural mystery and horror, guided by an enigmatic playboy named Dorian Gray.
Wouldn't be the first time Tom Sawyer worked as a detective.Finn and Sawyer

Blake's 7 remake now in SyFy's clutches.
I don't really care one way or the other about the remake, but the odds are pretty high that the existing fans will hate whatever SyFy does with the show, so for their sake I hope it doesn't go to series.![]()

The Dirty Dozen in space sounds like a good idea for a new series, but they should just go with that original concept, and maybe do something with a Tarantino retro feel to it, with a war-movie/video game emphasis on action.
Must've happened between wrestling broadcasts.Syfy has standards y'know.
Same here. I've never seen Blake's 7, but I cringe in sympathy.I don't really care one way or the other about the remake, but the odds are pretty high that the existing fans will hate whatever SyFy does with the show, so for their sake I hope it doesn't go to series.![]()
I'm a little nervous SyFy may water it down, but, I'm just as nervous someone may swing too far in the other direction and make NuBSG look "Unicorns and Rainbows" in comparison and I also don't want to see it turned into a True Blood type Orgy (A little sex is fine, but, there's no need to have multiple sex scenes every episode)Blake's 7 remake now in SyFy's clutches.

But I'm still chiefly rooting for the RHW series. Nice to see continuing interest from SyFy in developing space opera series. Someday we might even see one of them...

The Dirty Dozen in outer space was exactly the words used by Terry Nation when he pitched the idea to the BBC execs. So I do think they're using the original concept.

There's simply no way a show on Syfy is going to have graphic sex or anywhere near the league of sweaty naked bodies you'd find in every other HBO series. At most you'd get the coy sexuality of something like Farscape.I also don't want to see it turned into a True Blood type Orgy (A little sex is fine, but, there's no need to have multiple sex scenes every episode)
Yea, didn't mean SyFy would go sexy with it. SyFy will likely water it down, someone else getting hold of it could go too sexy, or too depressingI don't care about Blake's 7 either, but like with original Battlestar Galactica - another show I'm not a big fan of - I think the basic idea of the show could make for a good series.
So I'd actually be quite interested to see if this goes to series and if it's any good.

...though going for an incredibly grim, NuBSG tone isn't out of the question.
