Series 7 FINALLY Starts Shooting

Did anybody catch the Insider sneak peak during Copper?

It seemed to be clips from the trailer but presented as separate clips interjected between comments from the cast. So Matt Smith would say something about dinosaurs on a spaceship and then we'd see a clip. I don't think there was anything we haven't seen.

What the dickens!

Charles dickens inspired clothing for the christmas special

Wow, thanks for pushing those up. To the internet. Yeah.

This certainly looks great. I must ask though if the UK has any other time periods besides now and the Victorian era? Doctor Who really seems to like them, at least in terms of the costumes that show up.

Also, is this the first time we've seen the Eleventh Doctor willingly wear anything that didn't include a bow tie?

Mark

Who says he's willingly dressed that way?
True enough, he could've been forced into it, or for some reason HAVE to wear it; that's rare enough, as the Doctor's various incarnations rarely bother to change for the occasion (save "The Talons of Weng-Chiang", Tennant in a tux, and various First Doctor stories, more notably). Point being that the Eleventh Doctor changes his outfits often enough, but has always maintained a bow tie.

And more hats are DEFINITELY cool. Though I'm now starting to wonder if there is a more symbolic meaning to the change in outfits. The S7 trailers we've seen so far show the Doctor in his usual tweed and/or green coat, the Christmas special sees him in a period costume with cool hat, and the post-Pond episodes seem to feature him in a completely new ensemble. Perhaps all this reflects both time passing AND his desire to stick more to the shadows after the Silence? I wonder.

Mark

PS - Though the entire thing could just be a symptom of Matt Smith's own eccentric fashion sense. Keep him happy, keep him longer..?

^Maybe it's to confuse his enemies.

Cyberman- The doctor wore a hat most common with the 1890's earth period.

Dalek- No. He wore clothing similar to the 17th century era.

There's also potential for alot of eleventh doctor figures next year too

So judging by the shooting that's been going on for the Xmas Special
they are continuing to play out (or at least give lip-service to) the whole "the Doctor is dead" idea. And also Clara looks like she's going to be someone from the present who winds up in Victorian times (that the Doctor tries to foist onto Vastra to look after), rather than an actual historical character.

Yeah, AIUI
She's supposed to have been sent back in time by a Weeping Angel during the events of episode 5, though who knows whether we'll actually see her in that, or whether it'll just be established in a dialogue call-back.

And the Radio Times has confirmed 1 September as the premiere date, with a start time of 7:20 PM. (Which, for the record, is about twenty-five minutes before sunset. So much for dark nights...)

^ If that's him, he does most or all BBCA's voice overs.

I'd always thought the voice was familiar, having seen him in BSG recently.

It would be cool if they put a few seconds of her into episode 5, as a lead in.

And BBC America have confirmed the 1st too for folks in the US. They've also released a new trailer with some new clips in it. (One of which I'd call pretty Spoilery.)

I bet the competition was completely blindsided by the clever subterfuge and misdirection with not announcing the date.
