I'm from Iowa ... I only work in outer space ...

Maybe not everyone in the Federation - or its neighbors - are from Iowa, but they all go off duty some time, and billions more whom they serve never step out into space at all. Venardhi said, "Show me the civilian life of the galaxy," and so it has been done. So sit back, relax, don't worry about saving the galaxy from the Borg, and vote.

The winner, of course, gets to go on duty and create the August challenge - but that's not really work ;).

    Ha! Nice...

*looks at poll results so far*

Ah, crap. At this rate, I might actually win this thing! :-/

Maybe I better start thinking of a challenge in case the glorious victory is mine. Thinking of the next challenge is always the worst part about this!

    Two days left to go!

I rather like the idea of Boeing being around in the 23rd century.

That is actually kind of ironic, because I have not one, but two ideas for the next challenge, but at the rate I'm going, it looks like I'm going to loose the chance to use either of those ideas.

Yeah, I kind of like to think that many of the contemporary companies of today will manage to survive far into the future in some form or another, nuclear holocaust and changes in economy or not.

They might be superseded a little by newer companies like Yoyodyne or Cochrane Dynamics, but that doesn't mean they have to go extinct/bankrupt/liquidated. Even as older technologies become obsolete, they can still invest in newer technologies and joint ventures with other companies, and so earn the sufficient profits necessary to have a continued meaningful role.

Albertese, I hope you've been thinking - Congratulations!! You're our next Master of the Challenge! good job - and you'll probably be selling those dice any day now, right? ;)

Good job, too, JES and Klaus - maybe we can see you combine your ideas into an image of both personal and commercial craft hanging out at the spaceport ;).

Thanks to everyone who voted - you banged those mice like a drum! Now go out and start playing Do'Devwl'! :D

Ah, darn it!! *snaps finger* Well, that means that my ideas for the next challenge will have to stay just that for the moment: a bunch of ideas. That's what I get for not being efficient enough with my time. Still, I think I did better than the last time I entered: a quarter of the votes isn't too shabby, and loosing to a pair of nifty alien die sure beats what I lost to last time.

So Albertese, what is this month's competition? I'm hoping that it will be something that will allow me to design something that flies (yes another starcraft or ship. But that is what I'm best at). And shoot things. Shoot a lot of things.

Awesome! Thanks for the votes, everyone!

I have thought of a challenge. It strikes me as topical and appropriate. Look for it as "August Art Challenge: Mars!"

Then I take it that I'm not going to be able to design anything with weapons this time around. Your challenge hasn't been posted yet, so would I be safe to assume I'm supposed to design a vessel like in Mission to Mars or Red Planet (the former of which I've recently seen more then once. Might not be such a good idea to design such a vessel, since it might end up looking too much like the MRV! Oh well! :p)?

nonsense! starfleet's last desperate stand at mars orbit against a borg invasion fleet, the historic battle of phobos during the romulan war, even a death star blowing mars to cinders as a horrified TNG crew is helpless to intervene...

All would be perfectly valid! I demand to see weapons!
