Beltran: Being Vocal About Chakotay

Voyager ended years ago. I don't believe Beltran is still bitter of this.

That said, he had total prerogative to say what he did. Voyager was ruined by poor production.

I left (laid off after 16 years and making it though 8 years of layoffs, but i was salary and that's who was gong that round) my old job TWELVE years ago and I'm still bitter about aspects of it. I'm betrayed by the anger in my voice when asked about those aspects. The rest of it, I'm fine.

Hell, my brother brought up something from well over 30 years ago and it STILL hurt! AND he was being an ass about it, adding additional pain. And this incident was almost a year ago. Once inflicted, emotional pain leaves some pretty deep scars.

So I can understand that, when asked specifically about issues that rankled him at the time, he's still rankled.

I don`t think that he`s still bitter. They asked him and he answered.
Fans who met him last year told us that he isn`t bitter. There are things he doesn`t like about Voyager but there are many things he likes.

One fan met RB in Peterborough.I think she liked it. She told about RB:
. I was a little nervous about meeting Robert as I had heard mixed things but he was really friendly and squeezed me tight for the pic.
and
When I met Beltran I had to apologise for the fact that the captain (Kate Mulgrew) had taken up his space on my picture at which he laughed (with a smile thankfully) and said “Yeah, she does that.” I also told him it was a shame he’d had to cancel the Milton Keynes event.

Just recently watched The Fight for first time in years and disliked as much as ever. God, that's a bad episode. That Boothby continuity error is horrendous even by VOY standards (within half a season - wtf?). But made me dream how much better would have been if they'd done that nuBSG boxing setup instead. So much pent-up antagonism to release, and would have loved to have seen Tuvok vs Neelix or Seven vs BLT. Any other grudge matches?

When that boxing ep came up in NuBSG I had to pause the dvd and rant for five minutes about these idiotic boxing episodes that so many shows love to have. If you're really lucky a sci fi show might make it about some alien sport but it's all the same tired trope.

But BSG was great!! Once again showing that you can take a hackneyed story element and make it meaningful.

(I still don't ever want to see Jack the Ripper in a sci fi show again though.. I'm looking at you Bab 5, Sanctuary, Smallville.. Wolf in the Fold was enough for me.)

Warehouse 13.

And don't forget Three's Company, the lead male character was named ...

:)

OMG I blanked out the Warehouse 13 but I ranted and ranted about that one too.

Oh I did so love NuBSG.. well love is a small word, I was completely obsessed with it during my 5 week marathon viewing of it.

Chakotay was like Riker, second in command. But unlike Riker Chakotay was never given much to do. Janeway was always there. When Picard was off the bridge Riker was in command and leading away teams. Chacotay really wasn't given much to do.

I misread Batman: Being Vocal About Chakotay:lol:

"Fuck you, Chakotay!"

I`ve read on another board:
This is [...] one of the best interviews I've ever read. It has this absolutely honest, open feeling to it, and this is great. [...]
RB shows to be still honest, but I think this bitterness isn't there anymore. Could be his child, could be the distance to all of this... but it is definitely is great and very interesting interview.

I`m glad that I`m not the only one who enjoyed the interview and that he has some work going on.

I'm ashamed to admit but when I first saw pics of Chakotay I thought he was a Maori. I didn't get Native American thing till show started.

that would have been excellent.

"The Federation stole our country and turned it into a prison, so we went into space to make a new home and then they gave the new home away to the Cardassians! COME ON! A jokes a joke, STOP PICKING ON US!"
