Chris Eccleston To Play Lead Villain In Thor 2!

^Now now, I'm sure he won't be using a really bad Scottish accent in this one (and BTW GI Joe, far more fun than it had any right to be!)

GI Joe was one of my underrated guilty pleasure movies when it came out (Was that 2010 or 2011?). It will be nice to see Eccleston again, even though considering how he left Doctor Who, has he been in anything other than GI Joe since?

He's done a fair bit of BBC work, played John Lennon in one, was fantastic in The Shadow Line last year and has just starred in a drama about an alcoholic politician.

To be fair I don't think he's ever going to be a huge film star, but he's never going to be out of work.

Cool news. I know nothing of the character as I've never read any Thor comics and not really familiar with the character's story beyond the basics. Hell, I know more about the Norse Mythology character than I do about the Marvel character.

I suppose we should be happy for him. At least he's not hurting for work. On the downside, it means he has even less reason to want to revisit DW.

Seconded about the Shadow Line. Compulsive viewing from start to finish.

He's also done theatre. A Doll's House alongside Gillian Anderson & has just finished in Antigone at the National Theatre.

He doesn't want to be. He's been quite open in the past that he does a big US film every few years so he can afford to do the low-paying TV/Theatre work that he prefers.

I have to say that I really enjoyed "G.I. Joe" but I can't really say why. Basically, it was a good movie but my brother keeps telling me "You can't hate everything Michael Bay and like Transformers" But anyway I'm looking forward to Christopher Eccleston on the big screen again.

He played Claude the invisible man on Heroes.
