Ungrateful Actors

One last hurrah? Definitely not. They deliberately ruined and destroyed the character and p***ed in the faces of the fans at the same time.
It's awesome how long you're keeping your Kes butt-hurt going for.

There's a great line from thank You For Smoking... "I don't have to prove that I'm right. I just have to prove that you're wrong, because if you're wrong then I must be right."

I must admit that as a fan, I felt very insulted by that episode.

By the way, you should have Jack Nicholson in your avatar. He's the best Joker.

As for being right or wrong in this case, I just wonder why they did bother to bring back a character which they have put down a lot of effort to make us forget-just to destroy that character totally. Doesn't make sense, unless.........

12 years ago. Fictional character. Perhaps time to get over it?

There's yet to be a definitive Joker.

I'm still trying to figure out how Kes was destroyed in Fury? The chaacter came back, near the end of her life, with a sort of Alzheimer's Syndrome.

Are you honestly going to feel insulted if Grandparent or parent or sibling gets Alzheimer's at the end of their life?

I'm surprised to hear Fury was hated by everyone, I was always under the impression it was a Fan Favorite, and I'm sure I've read many posts here declaring it a great episode?

And seriously, Chakotay/Seven was seen as a middle finger to the Janeway/Chakotay 'shippers? Was Ron/Hermione in Harry Potter a middle finger to Harry/Hermione 'shippers (Even though it was very obvious by Book 4, and surprising there was even still a question about it after Book 4)? I don't recall a single clue, aside from being stranded on Monkey Planet with the virus, that there could ever be anything between Chakotay/Janeway other than friendship and comeraderie, there certainly was no build up to a romantic relationship to tear down. Now, don't get me wrong, Chakotay/Seven did come out of left field, and didn't feel right, but a deliberate "F-You to the fans, I just don't see it

A bit off-topic, but I personally think that Heath Ledger is the best Joker :)

I've found that there is always a division between Voyager fans on this, and I think it has to do with potentials. As a J/C fan I can say that I saw the potential for a relationship between them, while others may not see this. To each their own.

Do I feel like Chakotay/Seven was a big "F-U" to the J/C shippers? Yes and No. I do feel like they just swept all that chemistry the two had for those years under the rug in "Endgame", but at the same time I more put it at the fault of poor writing. My major complaint with C/7 has always been that it came out of no where; there's no development of it at all! If the writers had wanted to do something interesting in that respect they should have had any sort of friendship between the two disintigrate and have Chaktoay turn to Seven in some way.

I would have been sad to see J & C move apart, but it would have at least been interesting.

Seth Green is a delightful Joker in Mass Effect. Oh, er, whoops.

I've always been an S/D shipper, from age 10 to 24 and for the rest of my days, so meh. Oh well!

Hasn't Beltran previously said that they did the C/7 thing as a dare? He dared them to write it and they did?

Re the Joker - Erm, hello, Mark Hamill......

I've heard the Beltran thing as well. If it's true -- and it likely is, I suppose -- then it's probably the silliest thing the fans are privy to in the entire series' production history. And this is the same show where Joe Menosky got really giddy when he told Cinefantastique how excited he was to almost completely ditch Garrett Wang in The Killing Game, apparently.

:vulcan:

From memory, it was Beltran daring Braga.

Braga was probably still pissed at being voted down on his Year of Hell idea!

First of all, was it necessary to bring back the character at all if the only purpose was to make her look like a total lunatic and kill her off which was the original plan for the episode? What was the purpose with that?

Second, when Kes left in "The Gift" (another crap episode with a silly plot), she was turned into some energy-being. Why should she come back as an aged wreck, I mean, energy beings can't age since they obviously are the Ocampa way of an after-life.

I have had a relative who slowly faded away with MS so I don't find it entertaining at all and I don't want something similar rammed down my throat when I watch Star Trek, especially not when it comes to a favorite character.

My theory is that those in charge were annoyed of the letter campaign and wanted to show the finger to the ungrateful Kes fans who questioned their actions in season 4. "You want your favorite back? Now eat this, you scum and don't dare to question our wise decisions again!" That's the message I get from "Fury".

You've got it wrong when you think that "Fury" is popular among the fans. I've been debating that crappy episode for a long time and the impression I get is that the only people who like the episode are those who dislike or hate the character Kes and were happy to see her destroyed.

I haven't seen that much of Harry Potter to comment the events there. But when it comes to J/C, those in charge surely did know that there was a large group of fans who wanted some sort of relationship and/or "happy ending" between Janeway and Chakotay. They could have pleased the fans by making it happen or ignored it, leaving it up to the imagination of the fans. Instead they let C/7 show up out of the blue. That's what I call a finger to the J/C-ers.

If C/7 was Beltran's idea, then I find it ironic and sad that they listened to him when it came to that when they had ignored all his suggestions for at least four years.

I'm not happy with the way Voyager was handled by those in charge and I think they deserve all the criticizm they get.

let's talk about money.

Wang was paid 20 grandish perepisode no matter how little or much he did on any episode.

Lets assume Mulgrew got twice that.

One of you probably knows the close to the exact figures.

How much less would they have to be paid until they are allowed to complain?

How much more would they have to be paid before they would never complain?

KM was on $60k per episode for the first five seasons. It went up after that, but no idea what to.

Was Ron/Hermione in Harry Potter a middle finger to Harry/Hermione 'shippers

Yes.

(Even though it was very obvious by Book 4, and surprising there was even still a question about it after Book 4)?

Yes, because it's SO obvious two people simply love each other when they argue and fight all the time, have completely different backgrounds and life expectations, and when one if a faithless prat with the emotional range of a teaspoon who gets shirty with people who are supposed to be friends when he gets his little freckled nose out of joint...

Back on topic: every problem with Voyager can basically be traced right back to Berman and Braga.
