The Action Figure and Toy Collecting and Discussion Thread!

Yowza! Mattel made me an extremely happy man today! Elastigirl, Uncle Sam, Constantine, and Lead were announced as the remaining DC Club figures for this year (complete Metal Men, YAY!) Then they announced some of next years figures including Saint Walker, Larfleeze, Phantom Stranger, Elongated Man, and Wally West! As if that weren't enough, they have to go and announce the bi-monthly Watchmen Club. All six main characters in DCUC scale!

I think I need to lie down for a while.

i was wondering if i'd ever be able to complete my Metal Men figures. have to et those. Saint Walker, Larfleeze and Phantom Stranger are likely purchases too.

We're also getting Jocasta Nu on a Vintage Collection card! She comes with a pedestal and bust of Count Dooku from the halls of the Jedi Archives.

The downside? She's a Brian's Toys/online exclusive and will cost $24.99.

I've been waiting ten years for a Jocasta figure. I had a suspicion something like this might happen with her when she finally got made but I wasn't sure.

Here's Jocasta with the Count Dooku bust and pedestal:

Speaking of Dooku, it's like every character under the sun has been announced except for everyone's favourite Count.

I noticed that, too. It's pretty glaring.

I'm sure we'll get at least one new or semi-new Count Dooku figure next year to coincide with Episode II 3-D hitting theaters...it's just odd that no Dookus are showing up at Comic-Con.

The new 2013 packaging design featuring the return of the "Droid Factory" feature so popular a few years ago.

I'm not impressed. Who designed this cardback?

ETA: And here's the back of Jocasta Nu's cardback. Awesome artwork. Very classy and colorful looking.

Droid factory was popular? I hated it! It made damn sure that I will never get to own a figure of HK-47, one of my favorite video game characters ever. It's kinda funny that I feel that way considering I love the Build-a-figures in Marvel Legends and DC Universe. Though, in those cases it's a way to get us a larger character that would just not fit in a standard package. There's absolutely no reason HK couldn't have been single carded, especially because of his popularity. You wanna split up some random background droid amongst a wave? Fine, but not one that people actually care about.

You'd be surprised. I never adored it that much, but tons of collectors did because they loved piecing together new and unique droids, especially astromechs of different colors and designs. The Build-a-Droid gimmick still gets tons of love on the collecting sites and in our community even if it didn't seem terribly practical to some of us, especially those who don't open a lot of our figures.

Not that I've seen or heard about, but Hasbro won the license to make toys and collectibles related to next year's new movie so it won't be that much longer before news leaks along with some pictures.

[Stimpy] Oh, JOY! [/Stimpy]

The upcoming, Toys 'R' Us-exclusive Millennium Falcon! It's basically just a repack of the 2008 Legacy Collection ship with all the nifty electronic bells and whistles, only this time in a cool retro Vintage Collection box to hearken back to the late '70s and early '80s.

Lookin' good!

That child is filled to the brim with malevolence. I can tell.

Any new Star Trek lines?

They're doing a Kre-O line for next year.
