Most comic-book "science" is fanciful enough to be effectively magic anyway.

Not as the director, which he has zip experience with. Why would you want him, anyway? Just because he's related?

Halle Berry is an Oscar winning actress. She was terrible as Storm and Catwoman. Just saying.

Yeah, but do we really want to just write people off before we even know how they would play a part? Shit, I thought Heath Ledger would be ass as the Joker but I was wrong.

I certainly won't. Just pointing out that Oscars mean shit if the actress was miscast in the first place.

Nothing in all the trailers have screamed out that Anne Hathaway is amazing or anything.

No, because he co-wrote both the "Dark Knight" movies, which I think should be enough to prove that he has some talent. I mean, seriously, didn't you know that? He's also the creator and producer of Person of Interest on CBS, so he has some experience running a franchise. Not as director, no, but producers can be pretty important in feature films too -- note that Christopher Nolan is producing Man of Steel, not to mention Bryan Singer producing X-Men First Class.

I think it appears that she'll be damn good in it. I got chills when she whispered into Bruce's ear in the trailer. She's also been extremely taken with the part which is an excellent sign.

I don't think her performance looked extraordinary from what I've seen either. But she deserves the benefit of the doubt.

All we've seen are trailers, mere snippets or snapshots of a greater whole. For me thats woefully insufficient to pass judgment on the entire film and whole performance within it.

It was obvious that Heath Ledger as the Joker was going to be amazing just after watching all TDK trailers.

Few would suggest that Ledger's performance as the Joker was anything less than extraordinary. Could you have said the same about, say, Maggie Gyllenhaal's performance from the trailers alone?

Honestly, I don't get why there's any cause for concern. Aside from the single stumble of Katie Holmes, which was subsequently corrected, has Nolan cast any major player in this entire trilogy who's been less than brilliant? Hasn't he earned a degree of trust in his judgment and his ability to elicit fine performances from his cast?

Besides, Ms. Hathaway's been nominated for quite a few awards in her career -- far more than Ms. Holmes, competitive with Ms. Gyllenhaal. She clearly wasn't cast for looks alone, although I daresay she's the best-looking Catwoman since Julie Newmar.

And hey, she has the same name as William Shakespeare's wife. That's gotta count for somethin'.

Agreed. Hathway's Catwoman is one of the things I'm most looking forward to in this movie. Between this and Les Mis I think it's going to be a very good year for her.

That's not a fair comparison at all. For one thing, the Joker is a much more defined villain than Catwoman (who isn't even always a villain) and has a very arresting appearance. Second, the Joker was the focal point of all the trailers; TDKR trailers have mostly centered around Batman and Bane.

yeah I know, hence why I over look in The Avengers.

One small difference was that Thor or Loki were not walking around casting spells, whilst what they did was often powered by magic, they were not wipping out spell books, and casting spells to do whatever the hell they wanted.

And let's not forget shes also the chick who showed her knockers in Havok

I won't lie though, when I see her I don't think "catwoman". I guess she does sort of have a Julie Newmar sort of look though

Anne Hathaway isn't the first person I'd have thought of as Catwoman. Then again Michael Keaton certainly wasn't the first I'd have thought of as Batman either. I'll reserve judgment until next week.

Most of the actors in Nolan's cast aren't who I would have thought of. Cillian Murphy as the Scarecrow especially comes to mind. I knew that if Catwoman were cast, he'd follow the same trend and go with someone we'd never expect. I thought the choice would be more radical than Hathaway though. Rose Byrne came to mind.

She's closer to the mark than Michelle Pfeiffer was, even just by virtue of her hair color.

I have to admit, I always thought of Catwoman as the Michelle Pfeiffer type, so I was rather shock when I read Year One, and saw that she actually had very short black hair.

So far most of the earlier reviews have been praising Anne Hathaway's Catwoman, so I'm not worried at this point. What I've seen in the trailers has looked pretty good too.
Is Holly Robinson in this at all? I did see that Juno Temple is a "streetwise teen" according the wikipedia, and she definitely looks like Holly did in Y1.
