Bill Murray has found a new career and cred in Indie movies. Hell, he's playing Franklin Roosevelt in "Hyde Park On Hudson".

    [yt]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UQaScjiWDyY[/yt]

He's been great in all of Wes Anderson's films, he was nominated for an Oscar for "Lost In Translation", so I doubt he really gives a crap about going back to a shtick he's long since left behind.

The last thing I remember Ackroyd doing was that abortion of a film "Blues Brothers 2000". And now he wants to do "Ghostbusters 3".....because it looks like Dan is trying to dredge up stuff from his glory days to rehash, while Bill has moved forward and grown as an actor.

He started out doing goofy comedy's like "Meatballs" and "Caddyshack" to being nominated for an Oscar for a more dramatic turn. He's not interested in looking backwards when he's got a great career going. Too bad Ackroyd and a lot of Ghostbusters fans don't seem to get that. I don't think it has anything to do with the script....

I watch movies to enjoy them, not absorb the artistic feel of the movie, the Roosevelt movie sounds boring while gb3 sounds like it would be fun to watch.

Firstly, I agree. I've seen Bill's work since GB and he's only grown, in my opinion ("Lost in Translation" and "Broken Flowers" being two favorites). Dan, as much as I love him, is still running around in the same circles, and I just don't think a GB3 is going to happen. A decade ago, I wanted to see it. Now? Not so much.

Secondly, that movie ("Hyde Park on Hudson") looks like it's going to be awesome, and I'll have to see it.

I'd be disappointed if he wasn't. I can't imagine a script that does not include him. The last 'con I saw him at I told myself I was going to wait for his line to get shorter. Over a two day period that didn't happen. There was a constant hour plus wait for him a couple, maybe 3, years ago at AdventureCon in Knoxville, TN. They had one of those professional photo op packages available where he even put on the GB suit for the photo with you.

Yeah, Dan was awesome back in the day, but he just seemed to stall out somewhere.

And yeah, "Hyde Park On Hudson" looks great. I've started looking more and more at films like this over the last couple of years. It's a refreshing change from the standard CGI 'splosion fests we get all the time.

An indie movie can't be fun??? Rushmore is as indie as you can get and it's a LOT of fun. Way more fun than Ghostbusters 2.

This movie isn't going to happen.

Indie films are often pretentious, I like a lot of indie movies but a movie about Roosevelt just seems boring, a movie zapping ghosts all while saying cheesy one liners sounds fun to watch.

I believe that in Dan Ackroyd's Hellbent script Winston was referred to as "Dr. Zeddemore" other than that though, I don't recall Winston being included in any of the subsequent drafts of the script attempts. I love Winston. I hope he's in there as well.

The latest news is that "Ghostbusters 3" will be progressing without Bill Murray and be targeted for shooting next summer for a possible 2014 release date. Dan Ackroyd gives a couple brief details about Ray and Egon.

Said it before, I'll say it again: Ramis is the only oldster they really need, so it sounds like they're in fine shape.

I'm actually okay now with Murray not being in it. Peter Venkman was never really as into the ghost busting thing anyway, so it kinda makes sense he would have moved on awhile ago.

I can see Ray and Egon still hanging around 20 years later, but not him.
