RIP Andy Griffith 1926-2012

Sad news, but I can't help but think of my own Grandfather when he said 'he used the whole runway' to describe someone who lived a great life. I was a huge fan of The Andy Griffith Show re-runs when I was a kid. RIP Mr. Griffith.

:( He passed away at his home about 7 am this morning. He was 86 years old. This one makes me wistful, and I wasn't even old enough to watch Andy Griffith reruns until the 70s.

Rest in peace, Mr. Griffith.

Andy Griffith passes away

Feel the same way Dorian.

Seeing Griffith on Tv with the rest of the Mayberry gang always made a bad day a little better when I was a kid....still does to this day.

As I said in the other thread he did a great performance in A Face in the Crowd. Just a terrific film. If Andy fans havent seen it yet, check it out.

One of my favorite Andy scenes post Barney. I laugh out loud every time on see it. Griffith downplayed his comedic abilities and graciously gave all the Kudos to Don Knotts. But he was very funny. At about 2:30 on this clip is where he shines....

And I can't help but think of MY Grandfather (who died twenty one years ago) who bore an uncanny resemblance to Mr. Griffith. In fact, the family used to comment on the fact that they could have been twin brothers.

Which they weren't, as far as any of us knew.

Still, sad news.

A little part of me died today. Andy was an integral part of my life growing up here in the South. My parents reared me on his '60s show and we all watched it faithfully. If you come from my part of Virginia, the classic Griffith series is as close to a religion as any show that's ever been filmed and aired.

R.I.P. Andy. You were class and decency personified. :(

Andy Griffith was a man of gentle good humor. He was compassionate and kind, a true gentleman in every way, who will be greatly missed. Rest in peace, Andy. :(

I grew up on many a re-run of The Andy Griffith Show. I always envied Opie's relationship with his father. And it was always a joy to watch Sheriff Taylor help himself and the folks of Mayberry to get along better.

RIP Sheriff Andy Taylor, Ben Matlock and Harry Broderick. Captain of the spaceship, Salvage One.

Thanks for the entertainment. :techman:

This one stings a bit. Andy Griffith was one of the greats of television, And from everything I've ever read a superb human being.
