EURO 2012

No it hasn,t. I remember that Swedem-Denmark game well. It was a completely normal match with both teams still trying to score after the 2:2.It was just a coincidence. If they had needed a 0:0 or 1:0 or something I'd be concerned, but you can't plan a 2:2 without looking completely foolish.

Sorry, I'm not buying it. Scandinavians and football... cheeky buggers.

At least he's the first commentator to actually pronounce Cesare Prandelli's name the right way.

The stress is on the first syllable, not on the second. CEsare. Not CeSAre.

Pronouncing the players' names wrong is a time-honoured tradition among commentators. ;)

Brought to its zenith last night by BBC, whose commentator managed to call David Silva 'Villa' at least ten times before catching himself, correcting himself.... and then continuing to call him Villa!

ENG 2-1 Ukraine

You heard it here first unless I am wrong and I will edit it later :p

Disgraceful attitude from England.

With top spot in the group up for grabs we seem content with a draw just to scrape through and end up getting spanked by Spain in the QFs.

I can understand playing a defensive game against France, but Ukraine? FFS, we're making them look like Brazil!

Carrying far too many passengers and a woeful game plan.

What they need is a good old fashioned pep talk from Big John Terry:

^^ Apparently that's why we ended up ditching Rio and taking Terry to the Championships. None of the squad trusted him to be on his own in England with all their partners!

Far from perfect, but better in the second half. Nice work from Gerrard, opportunistic finish from Rooney for 1-0. Lucky to escape an equalizer with Terry's clearance from behind the line, but the commentators are suggesting that there was an offside in the run up to the effort anyway.

Always thought that there was a chance of Sweden getting something from the France game. Fantastic goal from Ibra and then caught on the break.

Over the course of the three rounds of games I think the correct two teams have gone through. Sweden will no doubt be kicking themselves for not getting something from the Ukraine game.

Woo! Top of the group. Come on England! Quarters for the first time since 2006 or 2004 if you're talking Euros.

As for Italy, it could go either way- knowing England we'll probably fail on penalties, but for now I'm happy. Rooney's goal could've been scored by anyone who was there- that's not just football players. Doesn't raise my opinion of him much, but at least he didn't find a way to scuff it up. Also, LOL at 2-0 to Sweden. If only they'd beaten Ukraine- I quite liked them.

Aw man, England should've given Ukraine 2 goals in injury time. They would have still won the group but Ukraine would've then qualified instead of France.

ENG were poor today, far too defensive against the weakest team in our group. Gerrard was probably our best player with some nice passing but I really hate him sitting so deepand not supporting our attacks through the middle. Ibra's goal for Sweden was best of the EURO'S s so far.

Hart (5) - Kicking was woeful to say the least and was lucky not to conceed when he mis-read a long range effort

Johnson (6) - Nothing special, sums up Glen Johnson nicely.

Terry (7) - Blocked a few efforts and cleared the ball 2 yard after it crossed the line but still good effort anyway.

Lescott (6) - *Read Johnson's comments*

A.Cole (7) - Got forward better in this game and solid enough at the back per the norm for him.

Milner (5) - Ok-ish at the back but offers nothing going forward still.

Parker (6) - Looks leggy and uncomfortable on the ball but offers some protection to the back 4 at least.

Gerrard (7) - Set up his 3rd goal of the tournament and some nice crisp passing to release Young n Rooney a few times.

Young (6) - Several dangerous balls crossed in from the wing, just needs to do it more often.

Rooney (6) - Some sloppy touches and missed 2 wonderful chances but did score and offered more than Welbeck upfront.

Welbeck (4) - Offered NOTHING all night and should of been subbed for Jones to bolster the midfield when Ukraine began to overrun us. No runs or flick ons and against Italy we should start Rooney up top on his own IMO.

Aw man, England should've given Ukraine 2 goals in injury time. They would have still won the group but Ukraine would've then qualified instead of France.

If Ukraine had won they'd have won the group (they'd have 6 pts, we'd have 4, and so would France, Sweden 3pts).

A draw and we'd have won the group, with France and Ukraine both level on 4 pts, however France would still have gone through as they won the head-to-head between the two.

So it's going to be England - Italy. A classic. I look forward to it.

If it goes to a penalty shootout then with our records it could be a while until theres a winner . I'd like to see Parker/Jones play in the centre to free Gerrard to link up with Rooney + Chamberlain/Young on the wings.

It's going to be an interesting game. And I think both teams have a chance to win it whereas I believe Spain will send France home.
