MLB Discussion - 2012 Season

He and Matt Cain are really the 2 best pitchers on the staff and probably 2 of the best pitchers in the game.

I think I wrote this about 4 hours ago. Who would have thought I went to the wrong game last night.

Matt Cain just pitched a Perfect Game with 14 strikeouts.

Damn, I went to the wrong game too! I only got to listen to it as I was at work tonight...but wow, what a game. Couldn't have happened to a more deserving pitcher. I just love that the national sports guys have to talk about a West Coast team again. :)

Oh, and by the way Laser Beam, nobody calls it "Telephone Park." :)

Watched the game this morning. He was masterful in his effort last night. I really enjoy great pitching performances like this and we have gotten a few this year.

Also the catch that Blanco made in right center was amazing. Thankfully they had him shaded that way or that hit falls in. Also had that foul ball down the line. It was indeed foul, so no asterisk like Johann's.

That "foul ball" was too close to call either way, as can be seen in the following:

Even the article in which those images are inserted says it was too close to call. Thing is Cain's performance was so dominant that everyone sees there is no point in complaining either way. You just sit back and marvel at such a great pitcher in his prime. A guy who was lightning quick to praise his teammates for their performances in that game.

If anyone gets a chance, check out the video from the Indians vs Reds game from today. Carlos Santana TACKLES a fan going for a ball along the first base line. It is one of the best videos from all year long.

^ Oh well, all right, if you insist.

srsly though, I like the way your ballpark looks and I would never in a million years disrespect it. I absolutely plan to go there next year. (Even though I'm not a Giants fan, I plan to have a Dave Dravecky T-shirt custom made for the occasion.)

In fact, since I'm going to Oakland the same week, I will make sure to go to Oakland *first* because who would want to go to the Coliseum *after* Tele...AT&T Park? :D

I really want to see a game there, too. I saw a Dodgers/Giants game at Dodger Stadium back in '96, so it's only fair that I go see a Giants/Dodgers game at AT&T Park (ugh, I hate corporate names for stadiums) at some point. :p

When ever I visit other stadiums, I always root for the home team. Even if the away team is a team I like, of course unless its the Mets. I always root for the Mets.

^ If I don't have a stake in which team wins (i.e. neither of the teams are Yankees or Mets), I really don't care. The first two games I saw in Philly last April, were against the Marlins, and so I was more like meh.

As for SF: Over on the baseball board I asked if the Giants could play one last game at Candlestick before they tear it down, but apparently that's not possible (the football bleachers are stuck there now). How d'you feel about that, Flux?

Was the Stick really as bitter cold during night games as I keep hearing?

The Cubs have approached Ryan Dempster about waiving his 10 - 5 rights, and Matt Garza expects to be on a different team by July 31, so the team's housecleaning seems ready to begin. Now if they can just fix -- or, better yet, replace -- that garbage scow of a stadium...

^ I've heard suggestions that if the Cubs move out, Wrigley should become the new location of the Hall of Fame. What say you, Timby?
